Noob in St. Louis / Midwest

Just starting out. Hooked on Shug's Youtube channel. I haven't watched cable in weeks! Thanks Shug for the entertainment and sharing your knowledge and experience! I don't have my setup yet leaning towards Dutch's argon with a WB Superfly to start. Im probably not going to be a die hard winter hanger but plenty of opportunities for the other three seasons. Joined the forum to research and learn a bit before I plop down my hard earned cash. Been needing a less stressful pastime. Might improve the health a bit too. (I'm not unhealthy but at 46 could always stand to lose a few lbs and beef up the cardio) Broke my lower back several years ago, its now fused, so going to the hard ground is out if the question. Any input is welcome especially on locations in the Midwest and gear suggestions. Thanks to everyone on here sharing their knowledge. Looks like a great forum from what I've read so far. Lots of info to digest. Happy hanging!

Welcome, I am a few months ahead of you on this addiction. I already have an Argon hammock from Dutch, it is comfy. Enjoy!

I've been a hammock camper for 3-4 years now but just recently found the forum. I wish i had found it a long time ago because of all the good advice &techniques I've learned so far. I would have saved a lot of money on gear that will now be handed down to my nephew(good for him I guess). Happy Hanging

    Welcome from Columbia, MO.
You'll find a wealth of great info on this forum. The community is top notch and immensely helpful. Looks like you've already been looking at some of the cottage vendors that frequent this site. I'd strongly recommend them. There are numerous wonderful vendors that you'll stumble upon here and they produce great gear as well as providing some of the best customer experience/treatment that you will ever encounter from a business.
Then I think the real addiction starts when you begin creating your own gear to replace or supplement what you purchase. The diy section here is amazing.
