    New Guy Here!!!

    Hello HF members!!!!
The name is Austin. I'm pretty new to Hammock Forums, and I'm also pretty excited!!! I'm getting ready to go on my first backpacking trip to northern Minnesota this summer!!! I've spent the last 4 or 5 years researching and testing all of the gear that I need for my first trip... and I'm finally ready!!! I guess it all started with pop can alcohol stoves. I saw a video on youtube of how to make one, and I was instantly captivated. I made 5 or 6 and then realized that I needed to go out in the woods and test it out. That's when I stumbled across Shug. And I'm sure you all know who he is! I saw that he slept in a hammock, and I thought that that was pretty cool. So I did some research and bought an eno double nest. I modified it with whoopie slings of course... among a few other things. Then I hit another road block. Sleeping in my backyard in a small town in northern Indiana didn't really give me that "Nature High" that I wanted. And thus my backpacking journey began. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of the wonderful people on HF in the future!!!

Welcome to the forums. Lots of nice and knowledgeable people here. Be sure to test out everything before heading out on your long trip. All the research is good, but experience is even better. Have fun.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!

Have fun on your trip. One thing that I like to do is bring some random thing to test. Make sure to have a tested back up but it is fun to test things out in the wild.

Although I am not a newbie to hammock camping , I am new to the forum. This will be the best reference you can have for just about any question you can think of. Everyone on here has been great. And I've learned more on here than in 4 years of being on the trails. Although there will be a learning curve once you get in the woods no matter how much you read, That is the best part. It keeps me coming back here, learning something new & hitting the woods to try it out. Have fun on your new adventure!
