    Wiggys peapod mod

Just rigged a Wiggys - Ultima Thule up as a pea pod and testing...

This is a -20 F bag and heavy at 6 lbs (for long wide version) On a pad and on the ground the temp rating is believable but not confirmed. It's a roaster. Synthetic with 2 layers on top and 1 layer on bottom of what they call Lamilite. Similar or same as Climashield. (discussion for another day) In US delivered for ~$220.

In a hammock with no pad bag gives cold butt around 35-40 F. Crazy but welcome to hammock world. You can flip it over since double insul on top and get a little more mileage out of it. They do make a model with double insul on both top and bottom but... this one is already pretty huge.

With my franken-pad >> walmart egg crate pad top with walmart blue pad cut in 1/2 and pieces put sideways to create sandwich with wings >> tested to 21 F with wind chill to 7 F and plenty comfortable as far as pads in a hammock go.

Rigged as a pod I hit 30 F last night. Initially too hot and had to unzip pod to knees and remove wool socks until middle of night. Middle of night zipped up pod but left socks off. Wore fleece hat and had very light fleece blanket in pod to block drafts if needed. Used as a pillow more than anything. Setup more comfortable than using a pad by a good bit. Wife even signed off on the comfort level. Tonight supposed to hit 23 F impressive temps for Panhandle of Florida but just a summer day for you northern boys.

Clothing worn always the same. polyester cheap hooded running suit as vapor barrier. Sometimes wear hood. fleece hat usually worn. wool socks as needed. gloves and balaclava on standby.

To mod as peapod. I cut the foot and resewed into a mouth. Added a spot of velcro there so bottom flap can be tucked in and top flap velcroed over it to seal up and use as a conventional bag. Attached a piece of string to foot end to help stretch out foot and then used shockcord on the head end. Cut a hole on bag stuff sack and cinch it around foot when used as pod to provide additional seal for foot end. On head added 4 shockcord loops. 2 to pull lengthwise and 2 to pull up.

    This is on a GT skeeter beater pro (L x W): 10'6" x 5' so a pretty large hammock. I am 6' 1" 200 lbs.
