Idea in securing pads in place

    Hello all,

I hope I'm not plagiarizing any past ideas, but I thought I'd share a thought I had in securing pads in place. When I first placed a pad in my hammock I wanted to try and get comfortable without a double layer. (Ironically I was trying this in a double layer hammock.)

What I noticed is that when I tried to put the pad in my newly-made hammock the zippers sewn along the edges kept the pad in place as shown in the two pictures:

When I tried to do this with the single layer, the pad would slip out and be half outside of the hammock.

I am not sure if this is how any of you guys lay in your pads (with the corners sticking out). But it led me to the idea of sewing a piece of string less than a foot in length along the side, on each side, that could prevent the pad from slipping out the side whenever you move. Like this:

I would normally investigate this myself however I do not have a viable hammock to test it on. The hammock seen in the pictures has a non-removable bugnet as of now, and the single hammock has been converted into the hammock seen in the pictures.

An interesting idea, I think the knotty mod could help as well. I always slept with my pad in my sleeping bag to keep it from moving.

I sewed three, 3" straps on the back side of my sleeping bag. I inflate my pad then slide it in. Works well even when i bend my knees it stays in place. Got the idea from the big alice sleeping bag.

I have the same problem with the pad sliding all around underneath me. What is the knotty mod?
