The weather is a lot cooler at those elevations. A long way to drive though.
Jon Rock is 300 miles from my place but well worth it.
    Straight out of Clayton.

Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.

I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.

I would love to get to more of the hangs in the mountains but it is an all day drive for me so unless I win the lottery I can only get up that way about once a year.

Too many hangs, not enough time and or $$$

My son will complete his Eagle Scout rank this Fall and after that, I will have lots of free time on my hands going forward and plan on attending more hangs in the future. Just about everything so far this year is coinciding with a scouting function. At least I will be out camping. The Smoked Butt Hang and John Rock will be on my list for the early and mid summer. This fall I plan on hitting Yates again and hopefully the Gorge for the fall gathering.

Grubartez ...you need to join us at the Fat Butt Hang at Merchants Mill Pond SP in April and or Oct. About a 3 hour drive from where you live. The Smoked Butt Hang in May would be about a 2 hour drive

    ^ That.

Hopefully I will be able to make both Yates and Smoked Butt.

I'm already making plans to be at the Smoked Butt Hang. We have our OA Conclave in the middle of April so I can't make Merchants Mill. This fall my schedule will be wide open. I want to get out sometime on the Neusiok too.

Me and Bmac14b are planning on Yates and Smoke Butt Hang. I'm working on a No Knot No Hardware No Whoopie Sling suspension--don't know if it will fly or not. We need to get out in the trees after the winter.

Looks like you're making a Suspensionless Suspension. Maybe you can adapt it to Dutch's Hammockless Hammock.
