    After 5 years of use....

After five years of use I finally noticed a bit of wear on one of the original straps on my 1.7 double BB, nothing bad but I never expected these straps to last this long. These are the toughest straps I have used and I have bought and used straps from several other sources. Do not know where Brandon gets these but I hope he continues to use them. After inspecting the worn spot on the one strap, I decided it was not bad enough to change out at this time but I will be watching it for more wear.

I also noticed that the Amsteel Loops connecting the original cinch buckles to the hammock were also showing some wear. Once again, nothing bad but enough to make me want to change them out.

While I like how light weight the aluminum buckles are that come with hammock, I always found them to be a bit of a pain to adjust once you put a load one them. As I recently got pair of the Dutch Ti Cinch Buckles I thought I would use these.

I watched Brandon's video on how to swap out the hammock's suspension and it took me about 5 minutes to do both ends even allowing for having to find a longer continuous loop for one of the Ti cinch buckles.

I figure I am good for another 5 years of use.

Now if I can just save up enough $$$ to buy a XLC
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Tell us more about your comment: " having to find a longer continuous loop for one of the Ti cinch buckles.". Did you get the loops from Dutch?

No, I used some I made myself.

I wish. While I have not used this hammock 365x5, it has still seen a lot of use in the backyard testing UQs and TQs ect, group hangs, on the trails and a few classes.

Just trying to get the point across that this a well built hammock and can last a long time with proper care.

Glad to know. I've been in my ridgerunner every night for about 6 months. I'm hoping i can post the same kind of great news about it in a few more years.

I still have my original straps on my BB. I changed out the buckles to the arrowhead aluminum ones like the bb's come with now. They were steel triangles. One of the welds broke on one, we brazed it at work and I used those for awhile til I changed them. I really don't know the age of my hammock. I bought it used from here dang several years ago.

Its been a good one! Thought bout trying the titaniums one day. But I really don't change much.

Good idea...I haven't hung enough to wear any out, but because I seem to get a new set of straps with every hammock I buy, I have more sets than I need. Usually i use the extra ones to tie things to my pack.
