    Amsteel / Dynaglide alternative

The West Marine here doesn't carry Amsteel or Dynaglide, what they do have is New England Ropes brand.

Will this work as an alternative for the Sampson rope for at least a ridge line for a tarp? Or even for a set of Continuious loops to use with my Turtle Dog stand I am working on?

No, I asked. My local WM doesn't carry Amsteel, but they do carry New England Ropes, and looking at the site think they may be equivalent to Amsteel, but I was looking for another opinion.

Your link doesn't lead to the specific product you are asking about. You might want to add a West Marine link for the rope in question.

You can also 'ship to store' to get amsteel at your local store, although, unless it is on sale, West Marine's prices are HIGH!

NER has cordage equivalent to Amsteel. I don't think they have an 8-strand cord equivalent to Amsteel 7/64", but they do have 12-strand cord equivalent to Amsteel 1/8". HTS-78 3mm would be what you're looking for.

Dynaglide is a NER product, so I'd expect they can get that. If you want something similar, but without the weird neon color's see if they can get HTS-78 2mm, FSE Robline Ocean 3000 2mm or MRX-2 (may be discontinued. Spools are available on west marines web site).

Diygearsupply.com has amsteel by the foot, and he uses flat rate envelopes for shipping if I recall correctly. Ive always had good experiences with him.

For ridgelines he also has techline, which is cheaper then amsteel.

Dutch as mentioned is also a very good option. He doesn't sell by the foot though if I remember correctly. It's a 25' hank.

    I concur.
I ordered 50 ft, it was only $.21 a foot (in 25' increments) and shipping was only a few bucks, compared to the "Online Marine Supply" places that charge $7.99-$12.95 for shipping, and he gets it out fast.

I always like going SOBO; somehow, it feels like going downhill.
