    Underquilt Temperature Question

I've just received my new Wilderness Logics 3/4 under quilt with 2 ounces of overstuff, bringing total down to 11 ounces. I know this is slightly subjective, but I was wondering if any one has real world experience with a similar product and what was the comfort temp? I am a warm sleeper and am hoping this will take me down to 10 degrees, maybe a little colder with a poncho undercover.

    Thanks

Based on the available information, over stuff add's about 0.15*F to a temp rating per 1% over stuff. You're quilt is 22% overstuffed so expect a roughly 3.3*F temp rating improvement.

I'm guessing this is supposed to be a 20*F quilt? W/L doesn't rate it, and doesn't list loft so hard to judge.

That said, everyone sleeps differently, and there are many factor's that impact warmth. I'd highly suggest trying the quilt out in your back yard in similar conditions to what you expect to encounter, before relying on it in the field.

Thanks Boston, I've never heard the overstuff percentage equation. But loft, duh!, my UQ gets to about 3.25'' lofted up soooo I'm still optimistic about getting to 10 degrees. We have some colder weather rolling in next weekend(if the weather guessers are right) and I hope to get out for a hang and really test it out.

Here's the post where I worked it out. That thread has a lot of discussion about over stuff in general.

My HG burrow and incubator are both 2oz overstuffed and I'm still comfy at 11º.

Hey Josh which temp incubator do you have? Do you know the loft?

Not to hijack and mix vendors, but I also had luck with my HG quilts and lower temps (I'm sure other vendors would be similar):

0° Incubator +1oz: -5°F (cool spots but it was not set up correctly)
    20° Incubator +1oz: 3°F toasty warm
    40° Incubator +2oz: 30°F no problem

Say what you will about overfill. But when I woke up the following morning with these temps, well rested and warm, do you think I was worrying about where that extra $9 went, on quilts that cost $200 or $300? NOPE! If it's that big of a concern for me, I can recoup that loss by not eating out at Applebee's one time.

Best peace of mind for $9 IMO.

Both UQ and TQ are rated at 20º. I understand that there is only a marginal benefit to the "overstuff" as it relates to temp rating. I added the extra 2 oz to give the down a little less room to shift around.
Not sure on the actual loft but 2.5" is the listing on the HG website.
