Thanks Corey, I just posted over there about possibly going.
No problem, krshome. I'm happy to help organize the next Shenandoah hang on HF, probably for mid-July. I'll throw around some dates here soon

I also live in Staunton and would like to try it out. Exactly where in the SNP are you suggesting for a Hang?
Hi ChiefH, The trips will mainly be in the central section of the park, but different location each time. There is a good amount of people in this area that hang and are slowly starting to get together. This has been a slow process for me getting a regular trip each month right now with my work and family schedule. I have told everyone that has posted here they are more than welcome to run a trip on this thread. CoreyR is the first with a trip I did last year on the SF of the Shenandoah River. More backpacking trips will appear as the weather starts to cool off a bit.
Ed Lee and I will be hangin' at Sleepy Creek Wildlife Management Area (Berkeley Springs, WV) March 26th weekend if anyone wants to join us. Depending on people's schedules, I may get there Friday. This is a very scenic area surrounding a lake (reservoir) and is semi-primitive so there are poop shacks. Again, depending on how many show, we may get a couple adjacent sites. Here's some info on the place and a pic from the site during our last trip. This will be a fun meet up before the big MAHHA weekend in April.

I might well be available for this one, as it is theoretically a long weekend for me. Being only a couple hours away (if no traffic) makes it more likely that I can show up for at least one day. I have a Hammeck Netty which needs a test ride, and a body that needs some outdoors...

The way I enter the WMA is from the East. On the hand drawn map, that would be on the right side, in about the middle of the map...you'll see 7/9...in the Jones Springs vicinity.
Here is a link to the area in Google maps:
https://www.google.com/maps/dir/39.4...39.5188148!3e0
If you follow 7/9 in Google maps, it eventually changes to 825. You won't notice that while driving. Just stay on the same road. The road will change from paved to gravel, and eventually you will see a sign that you are in the WMA. Once you are "officially" in the wildlife management area, you will drive about 5 miles until you see a "self serve" camping check in "station" on the right. Don't worry about checking in until you get to your camping spot. Just past the check in station are signs pointing to a few camping areas. Take the left (I forget the name of the campgrounds....), then take the left fork of the road when it splits. Around this area there are signs for a spring...Drive until you reach the "No camping beyond this point" sign....take the right just before you get that far. Take the next right and we should be at the end of that road, up a slight incline.
I have no cell service out there, so on the odd chance that someone beat us to that spot, just drive around the camping areas until you see hammocks. If you would like to coordinate, one of us could probably go find a cell signal at a time you feel you may be close to the area and lead you in, or...we could meet at a designated location. The first time locknload and I camped there, we met in Martinsburg at the Sheetz on Edwin Miller Blvd. If you zoom out of the google map linked above, that Sheetz is the starting point of the map.
Mike, does that sound right to you?

Yes Ed, that looks correct. While this may look confusing, it's really not that bad. I have an appt Friday afternoon so it looks like I'll be heading out to SC Saturday morning. This may be better anyway if anyone wants to meet up on the way there. I'll have my burgundy Excursion there which is pretty hard to miss .
