I just got done making my slings. I don't have a music store near me, and I've pretty much worn out my welcome at the neighborhood bike store so old brake cables were out, and I hate dropped ceilings so I didn't have dropped ceiling material.

I looked around my basement and came up with a roll of solder. The label fell off a long time ago so I don't know the thickness, as solder goes it was reasonably thick. The solder worked perfectly for the two slings I needed to make, and then I rolled it back up in the spool no harm done. I"m not going into the whoopie sling business, so for minimal usage solder is an option.

If you're going to use solder as a wire fid, be sure to wash your hands well afterward to remove the lead.
