I do kinda like that Fronkey style one though, but I'm weird.

How do you handle not getting hands and wrists bitten?

Second for the Kevlar straps and Becket hitch. I accidentally found this system and it has become my favorite. I don't think there is a lighter option other than to shorten straps.

    So you want the lightest?

    How about:

    2 x 6' long 1" Kevlar straps: 43.5 g
    2 x 7' long 7/64" Amsteel leads: 20 g

At this point, if you're a total weight looney you could stop. (1) Girth hitch amsteel lead to hammock (2) Wrap strap around the tree & feed through its own eye (3) sheet bend lead to strap and add backup knots. 63.5 g / 2.24 oz

I recommend going a step further, and adding a whole 10.8 grams for convenience:

    2 x continuous loops: 5 g
    2 x small loopalien Ti: 5.8 g

At which point, you're using (1) the continuous loops girth hitched to the hammock and to the loopaliens' medium-size hole (2) Wrap strap around tree and feed through its loop (3) Becket hitch amsteel lead to kevlar strap close to tree for maximum adjustability OR permanently sheet bend lead to free end of strap OR permanently girth hitch lead to 2nd loop of a kevlar hugger (4) Attach lead to loopalien, adjust, and double lock as shown here. You get a system you can even use with mittens in winter for 74.3 g / 2.62 oz

As for the bug net, make like Fronkey and use a simple headnet while you're under the quilts for an extra 1.2 oz (34 g)

    Disclaimer:
The LoopAliens come with a warning that they are NOT intended to hold body weight. The Aluminum loopaliens are rated for 100lb. Based on Wikipedia, the Titanium ones may fail somewhere between 500 and 1500 lb depending on the exact properties of the metal treatments. I've been using the titanium loopaliens on my suspension for half a year, and they have never shown any damage to themselves or to the amsteel. I weigh 160lb. A single locking wrap, as shown by Derek Hansen in the video above, may not be enough. I use two for peace of mind.

I suppose you could downgrade 7/64" Amsteel to some thinner UHMWPE cordage to shed ~5 more grams, but that's a level of gram weeniness I haven't reached yet.

    Enjoy!
