I finished my new hammock, and two underquilts! no more pads!!! Hammock is 11' long made out of 1.6 HyperD, and the quilts are both 5oz Apex with a 1.1oz cover, and a polysilk lining. I'm probably going to add a knotty mod to it, since I have already experienced the bag slipping out issue just hanging in my basement.
I could immediately feel the difference in warmth. the UQ is 48x60, and I really only need 12" long pad for my feet. I still need to toy with the suspension a little. The head of the UQ does slip out from under my shoulder very easily. I'm considering splicing a 2 loops into my ridge line that are 6" in or so on both ends to attach to, so that it doesn't slip out from my shoulder and feet. Is this what those triangle thingies are supposed to be for?
The system is also 4 year old approved. He wants me to make a smaller one for him to hang under his loft bed. Thats probably going to happen very soon...
