    Greetings from NC

    Hi everyone!

I currently live outside of Chapel Hill, NC and travel up to NY in the summer and Florida in the winter to DJ and discovered hammock camping by accident last year. We typically rent a minivan to lug all our records to these festivals. The first night in Florida it was hot and so jumped into a hammock that a friend had setup.I was hooked from the first night but by the third night the bugs came and they came in swarms. Apparently the first few days had a strong breeze keeping them away so this year I swore I would come prepared!

My wife still likes the van but I'm sold on hammocks.

Joined up to get some advice as I think this will be a lifelong thing....

welcome to the madness from down on the coast. Spent many a night at the bars in Chapel Hill in my younger days.

We are having a Frosty Butt Hang at Merchants Mill Pond State Park in two weeks and it would be a great place to come and learn about cold weather hanging.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

And a welcome from the other side of the triangle. You have come to the right place.
    Straight out of Clayton.

Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.

I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.

Greetings. There are a bunch of us hangers around the area. I'm in Apex. I'll be hanging in the Eno River group site in the cold and wet with a bunch of others.

Welcome from Garner. You say you are amazed by the number of NC Hammock Forum members there are about 50 just in the triangle area that I have been able to list. Well over 100 across the state. Near by hangs coming up include Yates Place, Smoked Butt at falls lake, and Merchants Mill Pond. All car camping and if you don't have gear yet there will be plenty of extra stuff and hangers willing to share.
