    Strength????? a friend using it to hang a bear bag broke it when trying to get it out of a tree ( I was there). if you can yank and break it, it's like those cheap sleeping bags - the rating is wrong. And hammock physics are such that 550 lbs is not strong enough. Amsteel has a much higher rating.

    The ones I've seen (and cringed at) were doubled so strength was not the issue. What it did to the trees was another story. I agree that straps and amsteel provide great results.

    Yeah i have seen it break at well under 550# I had it doubled. I was just using it until I got something better. I made tree straps today out of some 1" web and I have some amsteel on the way. My major objection to paracord was the stretch. It felt a little like hanging on a stiff bungee cord. Thanks for the advise. Sorry if my last post sounded a little condescending. I didnt mean it that way.
