    Stacking pads with quilts

Hey everyone! Not sure if this should have went in the pad or UQ subforum but I thought I would try here. So stacking UQ's is pretty standard but has anyone stacked a quilt with a pad? Not a pad inside the hammock, but a pad between the hammock body and the UQ using a single layer hammock. Thought I might try it as I only have a 3 season UQ. Anybody else try this already? Does the pad stay in place?

The trouble is as you mentioned....keeping the pad in place right were you need it and then secondly having it conform to the shape of the hammock well enough to not be pulling the UQ away from the hammock creaking air gaps.

Laying right on the pad in the hammock with the UQ below is better. Yes it will still want to squirm out from under you depending on the type of pad and thickness and material it's made from but your able to control it and center your self on it better and you won't be fighting air gaps on the quilt side.

Makes sense . Laying right on the pad will give you more control over it not moving. Air gaps would happen for sure too. Thanks!

Also, when the pad is under the hammock, it will not concave to "hug" the hammock body creating the gaps. Your weight on the pad will "form" the pad to the hammock body.

The UQ needs to be tight up against the hammock bottom for it to be fully effective without gaps.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

The underquilt wont apply enough force to conform the pad to your body. The pad with stretch the shock cord suspension instead. Unless you're using REALLY heavy shock cord I suppose...

I have laid my pad inside the hammock before and it definitely works if that's all you have for bottom insulation. However, I would highly recommend using an under quilt instead. If using a sleeping pad I would definitely use synthetic on top so your sides stay warm
