    Dutch PolyD Hammock

What's the consensus on the PolyD Hammock from Dutchware? http://dutchwaregear.com/polyd-hammock.html Is it whipped end or sewn in channel? Sufficient width for a 6'2" person?

It comes with a sewn channel and a zip-tie through it. You can use the channel or whip it whichever way you want.

The PolyD is 58 inches wide. I'm 5'11" and I find it wide enough. I very much like the low stretch of polyester.

Coming from an ENO double, it was quite the change, but it is more than sufficient in width. At 5'7 I got the 10' and it's just right. The worst part for me is the static it produces, but that's a non issue when you're in it. Very comfortable hammock.

I fully agree with the above. I find the width fine at 6'1". It's definitely a different feel from a nylon hammock....not bad, just different. If you like a little stiffer platform, it's poly. It has much less stretch than ripstop nylon. It's my go to hammock now.

MoHiker, I had an issue with static in my hammock for a while. Try rubbing it down with a dryer sheet every so often. Seemed to work for me.

I'm 6'2", and I've got an 11' PolyD hammock (58" wide). I've only used it on one overnight, and a little bit of lounging, but my preliminary thoughts were that it felt a little narrow for my taste. I definitely want to give it a few more nights before I make a definitive decision, but I'm used to wider hammocks and found myself very aware of where the edges of the hammock were. It wasn't "not wide enough", but it might possibly be "not as wide as I'd personally like". The material feel and low stretch, however, were great and I found it to be a great laying hammock in that regard.

I'm 6'2" 260, and I really like it. Like silentorpheus said, it has a narrower feel to it. At first I didn't think I would like it, but compared to the double wide Yukon I was using it has a much better field of view and I don't have the excess fabric to deal with.

Thanks for the comparison. I'm using the Yukon double, too, and don't dislike it, but there is a lot of extra fabric along the sides ... I may have to try one of the Dutch models too.

I should add that my primary hammock is a 62" wide Dream Hammock Thunderbird. You wouldn't think 4" would make a noticeable difference, but it did. Then again, I'm also not positive what I experienced wasn't just a result of not having a netted hammock. More experimenting is needed on my part.

Don't let any of that discourage anyone - the fabric is great, and the price can't be beat. As an alternative to a hammock like a ENO, GT, Yukon, etc. it's a great option.
