Not Sure what to call it

I have been contemplating making something to mount on the tree that can hang my gear. I imagine it as a half umbrella "awning" that has a fold or roll down cover to keep things dry and a few hooks to hang items from and some sort of table similar to the 2QZQ table. That way my gear is off the ground and dry without having to be under my tarp. Does something like this exist?

I don't know of anything that exists right now but I've had similar ideas. I'm really interested to see what you come up with

How about just chucking a plastic trash bag over your pack and using a carabiner to attach the pack to your tree strap? I'm cheap and don't want to carry anything extra... Mostly cheap!

Thats what I had in mind for the awning part. I would like to construct something a little more "packable" but that is a good start! Thanks for the link!

Hang your pack off the ground with an adjustable strap and a mini-biner. Covet with a trash bag oe piece of water proof fabric. KISS is the main thing.

I actually own one of those umbrellas and they are nice for hunting via tree stand in the rain. What I can add from experience is that rain will run down the tree from where the umbrella and tree meet. So if you have your gear hanging up against the tree it will get wet. Hope that makes sense. Also, that rain which fights gravity and falls at an angle could also put a damper on this plan.

A very cheap solution to keep that pack dry would be the trashbag that Sardog1 mentioned. Also, a slightly more expensive option, and I stress "slightly" would be a pack cover such as this: http://dutchwaregear.com/argon-sil-pack-cover.html

Yea, so i reread your post and have no clue how i missed the part about a roll down cover! Selective reading I guess?! Let us know if you decide to construct something!
