Corvis natum est.
I have a cheap ($9) string hammock that I hang under my ENO hammock for storage (when NOT in bear country). It is great to have everything under tarp and handy. Otherwise I hang my pack at my foot end or on a tree.
Surprisingly I've never thought about doing this, but now I really want to try it out! Or maybe make my own mini hammock to span the underside of my main hammock as a little storage space. Thanks for the idea.
I typically tie my boots/shoes together and just hang them over on one side. As for my pack if depends what the weather is like, where I am, and how lazy I am haha. Just like most people, hanging it, leaning it against a tree, or just lying it beneath my hammock are all options. One thing is for sure, if I'm hammocking in colder weather I always keep tomorrow's clothing items (especially socks) and even maybe my boots inside of my sleeping bag in order to keep them warm throughout the night. Waking up with frozen boots to walk in doesn't sound appealing.

Not exactly a pro, as I have just completed my first official hang in BWCA. I reckon I may be different than most here in that I always have everything in a dry sack, normally either propped against a handy tree trunk or stuffed under the canoe. Small incidentals go in shelf of the Blackbird, boots on ground.........Shug, we at Bwca.com will cure you of your earthbound ways!
my solution... and the kids pack goes up the tree as well

I'd thought about putting the kids in a pack and putting it up the tree. They probably wouldn't have gone up well though...
I keep some extra biners and cord, so I either hang it from a tree, the end of my hammock, or put its rainfly cover around it and leave it to its "boat" by my hammock.
I have a Molly Mac Gear Box. Love it. It is water proof from all angles. Still working out the best place to put it. Next I'm going to try under my Superfly with me and pulled out to the side so I can swing out of the hammock, sit there and go through my gear. I'll always put food away from my hammock site. I also usually sling my boots over the head end of my suspension. Looking to get a Tyvek ground cloth.
We used to carry mesh Pocket Hammocks as "Chairs" and these worked well to store stuff under hammocks and tarps as well. I think that ENO sells an underbelly version.
