    Indecisive on Tarp Choice

I have spent sometime watching videos (shout out and huge thank you to Shug), reading previous posts, making spread sheets, but in the end I still cannot decide on which tarp to buy.

I have a Blackbird XLC on the way. I am planning on using this hammock kit for 4 season use (snow, rain, heavy winds, island hopping, and all the other uses that a tarp does). I am currently only wanting to buy one tarp to do it all. I prefer to have the largest width possible, and I want to have just the right length for the ridge line hanging over 11" on each end of the hammock. I also do not plan on using any tent poles or pole modifications for the tarp. Weight is important, but not as important as comfort, durability, and life expectancy. So which one do you all suggest? (I am leaning towards the Superfly since that it is from the same company as my hammock, I am not sure it is big enough though):

    Warbonnet Superfly Tarp 1 lb 3 oz 11' L x 10' W $130.00

    UGQ Winter Dream 1 lb 11 oz 12' L x 10' W $184.95

    Wilderness Logic Old Man Winter 1 lb 5 oz 12' L x 10' W $170.00

It's a personal choice but I LOVE my Old Man Winter from Wilderness Logics and I use it as my "do all" tarp. Pole mods aren't needed if you add some shockcord to the pull-outs and have some to tie them off to.

The three you've mentioned are all decent, however, for a "one does it all", I'd go with a Hammock Gear cuben fiber with doors and I'd order it with a 1 ft longer ridgeline than their standard.

The coverage of this hammock is as good as anything out there but with a good weight. It allows natural light in; something I thought I'd hate about cuben fibre but instead found that I love. The extra foot give you really good coverage extending past both your hammock ends, even if you run an 11ft hammock.

They aren't cheap but the combination of light weight, light, doors and tie outs, and strength...we'll I think its about perfect.

I have a SF and love it, but i think any of those tarps will serve you well.

+1 for the Superfly unless you're able to pony up the big bucks for cuben fiber

I've got an Old Man Winter, and love it. Any large tarp will do the job. Just make sure you get something with doors on it for the best cold weather use.

My next is probably going to be an HG cuben with doors. It's just versatile, despite being $$$$.

Love mine. It's so light weight and sets up easily.

Yes, get doors. Doors add very little weight when going the cuben route.
