So, I was out camping a couple weekends back and found the most fantastic site, which wasn't far from some nice flowing water. It offered some great white noise for sleeping but when I woke I found my UQ quite wet. It hadn't rained so I'm guessing all the flowing water had caused a lot of airborne moisture and it had just accumulated. I realize a lot of people use underquilt protectors and was looking at those offered by 2QZQ when I saw that I could get them in breathable ripstop or argon as well as in silnylon. It got me thinking.... I realize that silnylon isn't breathable and will do a better job of keeping the water out but will keep moisture/condensation in. I couldn't decide whether this was better than using a breathable material in regards to keeping the UQ dry. I figure I'll only use something like that when there's enough rain or moisture to collect on the UQ or if it's so windy that I need a wind block to keep warm and I just can't wrap my head around whether a non-breathable barrier would actually keep the quilt dry in these conditions or just trap more moisture in.
Any thoughts?
