    Structural ridgeline patent.

Hi guy's I was reading somewhere about a patent on a structural ridgelines but noticed some manufacturers other than Hennessy ship hammocks with structural ridgelines and others sell structural ridgelines separately from hammocks. Is there a patent on this or not? I read on a post that there was a previously expired patent from the 1800's but I don't know if this is true.

Patent a string tied to both ends of a hammock?

Lol, I know what you mean. Patents are not supposed to be things that are obvious but I heard there was a patent. I checked google patents and found the Hennessy patent application but after reading some of it it was unclear to me what the patent actually covers.

    I found this patent # for Hennessy's "Hammock w/ a ridge cord" https://www.google.com/patents/US642...=0CFQQ6AEwCDg8

I see that Warbonnet sells hammock w/ structural ridge line. If I were make some gathered end hammocks, could I sell them with a structural ridgeline attached? I am thinking that the overall design of the Hennessey hammock is patented, like the asymmetrical shape but not simply a ridgeline attached to a gathered end hammock. Anyone know?

Doesn't matter who owns what patent, if they are not willing to defend it, then it's essentially void.

Hennessy had patented the ridgeline originally, baring anyone else from using that design, until someone found a previous patent for the idea that had expired, which effectively voided Hennessy's patent due to prior art existing. I don't know if it ever went to court, but it's clear Hennessy isn't defending his patent anyway.

Thanks, Boston. Does anyone have a link to the expired patent?
