Xxl down vest uq for child?

Hello, any one have thoughts on a simple UQ made from a xxl mens down vest? Possibly sewing the arm holes and adding a suspension for an affordable UQ starter for my kids. I'm thinking a sleeping bag and this type of UQ for late spring to early fall weather in the NE. I looked for some threads and didn't find anything without cutting the whole thing up. I'm looking now because I hope to find some on clearance after the holidays and have it for spring/summer?

You could get a throw of some kind.

Depending on how small your kids are you may be able to get two out of a single throw.
