    Fabric Talk - Nomenclature?

So I've noticed a trend lately in fabrics that got me to thinking - where do the names come from?

RipstopByTheRoll introduced HyperD (I know where that name came from), then Dutch came out with PolyD and now NylonD. What's the story behind those names? What's the "D" stand for or is it just following the trend that RBTR started with naming conventions? Where'd Argon come from in a name? Epsilon?

Inquiring minds want to know - maybe some of the DIY'ers can chime in.
I used to be a somebody, now I just camp.

Hyper sounds good/catchy and "D" refers to the diamond weave pattern.

I'm pretty sure it's the same for the PolyD and NylonD - the trend right now seems to be in having fabrics with diamond weave produced, as opposed to the more traditional square grid ripstop pattern. PolyD is a polyester fabric with diamond pattern, NylonD is Nylon, etc. Pretty straightforward.

The better question is where do the more fanciful names come from Like what's the story behind Argon, or Nobul, or Illume?

Because PolyD sounds better/more appropriate than DiamondP?

This is where we need Dutch to chime in.Argon sounds like it was named by a pirate.
