Welcome aboard from Lakeland. Probably short notice for you but we are doing a Green Swamp West this weekend and you are welcome to join in. Here is a link for it:

Then you will want to make plans to attend the Fifth Annual Florida Hang in Jan.

    Welcome, from the East Coast.

The temps for the last 3 of 4 Annual Florida hangs have been in the 20's F. The Walmart bags are not enough, IMO. If you have a ground pad, that will work for bottom insulation, but, the UQ's are the way to go, again, IMO. For top insulation, you may need better than a 40*F rated bag and a TQ is the goal here as well IMO.

I posted some December hangs in the FHV thread. They may be helpful for you to get your gear tested and help from a few folks, if you need it.

    See you at FHV.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

    Welcome from Gainesville!

I'd definitely heed Floridahanger's advice, and it's really good that you're going to test before heading out into the woods. If the weather report is right, you should be seeing temperatures this week that will be down in the 30s. Not quite as close as it could be to our usual temps in ONF, but it's a good mark to get an idea of what it's like to sleep in an hammock in colder temps.

Let me know if you've got any questions. If I can help, I will.
