    Hammocks for very heavy guy?

My friend has seen my hammock and listened to me talking about it and he's interested. Problem is he probably is close to 400lbs.

What options are there for a guy that size? He just under 6 foot tall. I see the Roo supports 500lbs. Are there others?

Does that weight present other issues for hammocking?

    Thanks.

Look at dream hammock. You can custom build a hammock to hold 500 pounds

Warbonnet has also built a number of hammocks for folks in that size range. Just got to email them and discuss options.

Thanks guys. I'll have him look at those options vs his budget.

Don't forget DIY making a gathered end hammock is pretty easy and the cheapest way to see if he likes it.
I think some of the material vendors even sells hammock kits. For a guy his size I'd try a 10' or 11' x 60"wide, double layer of 1.9 ripstop nylon.

If he weights 400 lbs I would consider a 3 layer of at least 1.7 or heavier material
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

I believe grand trunk skeeter beeter pro is rated for 400lbs. and is reasonably priced.

I weigh 375 and have been up to 390 since I started hammocking.

ENO Doublenest will work, Yukon Outfitters (woot) hammock will work, Dream Hammocks can be customized to work (that's what I'm in now), WB Blackbird 1.7 double layer will work, and of course there's always the DIY option - Tablecloths will work and I know for a fact that Ripstop By The Roll HyperD will work.
I used to be a somebody, now I just camp.
