"Loneliness is the poverty of self; solitude is the richness of self."~~~May Sarton
At a sportsman’s show, I waited patiently for a representative of a tree stand manufacturer to finish with the person ahead of me. He clearly could see I was there for a while. I had NO PROBLEM waiting my turn. When the first guy left, the rep purposely turned his back to me and made a call on his cell phone. I left and spent almost $400 at another vendor. All he would have had to do was say to me, “Can you hold on a minute? I have to make a call.” He didn’t. I left.
That said: I totally agree that the written word is not always taken as the writer intended.
The harder I work, the luckier I get.
Having now seen the post number 43 by Dutch, I'll still leave this response here. Posted after reading the first two pages, and hadn't got to #43. Same idea though.
One thing I've seen here after reading two pages of responses gives me an idea.
It is the same idea that brought me to buy "used" cd's on occasion. If you like the music, but not the politics, manners, toilet training or whatever of the artist. Buy used. You get the music you want, the artist makes no additional money from your purchase as their profit was on the first sale. I don't intend on getting into copyright and such by making these comments. Please try to understand my "big picture".
If the person/company rep. acts like an idiot, or just rude, I would gently let them know, and walk away.
HOWEVER.... if its an item you must have, you're still not lost.
If you can buy the super-neat-o item used I would do so rather than being the "first" purchaser to give the person/company the profit. Then, you get the gear you want and can use, no extra profit to the manufacturer directly from you, and then you could still remove the labels if you like. Seems like a winner to me. (as long as the item is not too used, and covered in bear doo doo, coyote drool, and other unrecognizable things to make it unusable and not worth it.) My first post with "doo doo" in it. LOLOL Maybe this is the start of my downhill tumble.
