New Here love the site and the posters...

Would this trail be good for a first timer and what is some of the essential equipment needed for this trail?

The BBT is only 7 miles or so, it's easy to do as a full day hike or an overnight trip. The trail does have some decent elevation changes, so be prepared for that. There are a couple of bayou crossings, one in particular that is always above ankle height, plan on getting your feet wet. Some spots can be muddy, too. I would recommend it for a first timer, but it is a moderate difficulty hike for Louisiana standards. Lots of trees to hang from, and quite a few campsites along the trail. Most sites have some sort of fire spot, but no grating to cook on. You may want to bring your own stove or improvise over the open flames.

Hiking poles or a staff is a good idea, you'll need a water filter. Bring a camera, you will want to take pictures.

Are you going by yourself? Are you new to hiking, camping, hammock camping, or any or all of the above? When are you considering going? I might just see you out there!

My view from the "deluxe" campsite. It is just about halfway, and has one of the best views on the trail.

Hahaha! Maybe, if we're lucky. A cool front is passing through right now in Laffy, we are finally looking to have 60degree temps at night!
