I'm also curious why 1/8" ones are almost double the weight of the 7/64" ones. Does the extra 1/64" diameter in rope significantly add that much more tensile strength that the hook has to comply with. Teach us Dutch.
The part is bigger all around and not just the hole. It had to be because the 1/8 doesn't make as tight of bends. You also don't want the rope to make tight bends relative to the top diameter. I think 7/64 will support everybody but I had a lot of requests for the 1/8 version. I think I need it after all I ate yesterday.

Is there a specific reason the new hooks have only one hole?
I believe the first design had two holes to save weight.
Can't speak to why it went away.
