Interesting concept... I do however think that at that point you are distancing yourself from the other without the benefits of splitting a hammock. Just my thought.
However, if I was to make a longer hammock it possibly could cut down on weight!
    Decisions decisions!
It wouldn't cost much to try I guess!

How is a longer hammock going to help? The main problem is, that everything in the hammock is going to gravitate towards the heaviest object in the hammock. I don't see how "each can have an end". The lighter person will always slide to where the heavier person lies and end up squeezed into him or her. There are plenty of threads here discussing the problem.

YUP!!!! I Don't want to be a Nay Sayer, but I just can't see how this would work out well throughout the entire night. For a bit or relaxation, you can lay next to another or at opposite ends. But I think you'll find that through the night, this will not be a desirable solution. Constant pressure from one another causing limbs to fall asleep or tender, and midnight pee runs would just be a few of your issues. And we haven't even talked about insulation. You would have terrific problems with underquilts and pads from this approach. But....YMMV, and HYOH

As soon as I thought I had an easy solution. Thank you all for helping! I've decided to trial and error this thing with cheap fabric! If I ever get to it (Probably in spring) I'll be sure to update!
