No , you cant drive directly to the site but you can get to within a few blocks of it via McKinley woods forest preserve. There you can park and go over the bridge to the trail , continue southwest ( turn right) a few blocks to the site. Cars are not allowed to be parked at McKinley woods over night. Overnight parking is allowed at Channahon state park, which is a 3 mile walk in , and at Gebhard Woods, which is in Morris . Thats a longer hike in. I have been stopping at Mckinley woods , use my 2 wheel dolly and wheel in firewood and water, then go park at Channahon and hike in or bike in. Hope this info helps. When i see how my week is shaping up ill give you a call or text Gallo and set up a firmer time, but right now im thinking of getting out there 1:30 to 2:30, that will give enough time to stash the wood and water and hike in before it gets dark. .

Sounds good to me. I'm probably getting there around 10 am Saturday morning.

So I talked an old buddy that I haven't seen in years to come. He is a big biker, so I said we could ride the mountain bikes out there from the parking lot and possibly we will be doing a little ride after set up. He's never experienced a hammock before. Hoping to get out there around 1:00 on Saturday. Is there anything I can bring? Is it possible to burn wood from that huge scrap pile out there? I'm looking forward to getting out to hang with you guys.

There's plenty of wood to burn out there. It's just tough stuff to get going, so we supplement it with a few bundles of the good stuff. I was planning on hiking in, but I might bring the bike now.

Mark, give me a call Friday as you get close to the area. If we're running close in time, I'll probably just wait on you.

I also was hoping to make this but my new out of town work schedule leaves me little free time at the moment. Hopefully next time as i'm not far. Settworthy and I are lifelong friends btw.
