Foot Box Insulation idea

I am thinking about insulation in the foot box of my sleeping bag, to work with my 3/4 length quilt.

I have a piece of windshield metallic insulation cut to size, edged and pin holes all over to breath.
This is my first thing with thermal socks etc inside the sleeping bag.

Next I came across this stuff in the fabric shop its like fake lambs wool.
Look like it might be much better than fleece.



So I made an envelope, with wool on outside and metallic sheet slotted in the middle, as one option,
or turn inside out with wool on the inside of the pocket and just put feet in there without the metallic sheet.

Some testing going on at home



Will try it out in a few weeks to see how it goes

In the UK we call that fabric 'berber' and it's used in buffalo outdoor wear (really popular with the bushcrafters) as a thermal / wicking inner layer. It should be perfect for what you are wanting it for but it is very breathable so wind could be a issue.

Cool, it will be inside the sleeping bag, so wind no problem. Doesnt pack very small, so have to limit how i use it
