I wonder... Could you use these as both speed hooks and spreader bar anchors at the same time by threading your Amsteel through the hole closer to the hook and setting your locking twist between the holes and then use the hole farther from the hook for the spreader bar? Haven't seen these in person, so I'm not sure if these holes are a different size than the ones on the speed hooks.

If not, just adding a 3rd hole to the speed hook would serve the same purpose...

...I'll defer to the expert as I'm sure you're several steps ahead of my feeble imagination

Dutch, makes me wish I was still living in Lancaster County, just to able to be around you and soak up some of this ingenuity.

Very neat! I'll have to add this to my sometime in the future list.

I really want to see these in action with a tarp. I would think that a pole mod of one type or another would be almost mandatory as well as a longer tarp to deal with the V at each end.

Dutch, I noticed the similarity between the speed hooks and the double hammock whoopie hooks, too, but I realized that I want to adjust at the apex of the suspension triangle, not at the corners of the hammock. Still, couldn't I use a speed hooks instead of your ti bridge hammock ends?

Well I have thought about making something just like that. I think the Double hammock hook would work better than the speed hook. The hole for the Double Hammock hook is big enough for a pole and the spacing is meant for a pole. I think the holes on the speed hooks are too small and too close for the standard pole. However an end piece could be specially made to fit the speed hook. I like the hook idea because it would be great to remove the suspension from the bridge or at lease be able to.

To use the Double Hammock Hook as a Speed Hook at the same time, I would think that you would need 3 holes instead of 2.

From the hook, the first hole (larger) would be for the spreader bar. The next hole (smaller) for Amsteel lead. The last hole (any size you make it) would be just to remove material to make it lighter and for the tab to lash the Amsteel lead.

At least that's how I see it. The Hook could be used as a single hammock Speed Hook or as a Double Hammock Hook without removing or adding anything.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
