whats the best under quilt to use in the winter in 20s and below
A thick one.
How's that for a quick answer! Lol
Seriously, any one of the cottage vendors found here on the forum is going to provide a piece of gear that you will be more than satisfied with. Just determine what is the lowest temperature that you will be hanging in. When temps start warming up, just vent the underquilt to regulate the thermostat.

Go with a 0º UQ from any of the vendors on here.....either full length or partial would do you.

Whooooo Buddy)))) All Secure in Sector Seven
I've been using an Incubator 20 from Hammock Gear, definitely one of most well known underquilts, and for a good reason
I love my Hammock Gear Phoenix it's only a 40 but I'm hoping Hammock Gear throws one of those Black Friday sales. I've been eyeing up either a 0 or 20 Incubator.
Hanging in the woods, paddlin and catching trout- My kind of living...
well im indeed looking for a full length under quilt! for this winter
Sounds like a 0* of downy goodness is in order from one of the venders here.
Since your planning to push below 20* you might as well be snug as a bug without worries in a 0*

Hammock Gear rocks....
I think I'm seeing a pattern here...
Actually, although I am biased toward hammock gear, I haven't heard of much disappointment with any of the cottage vendors here.
General rule of sleeping bags = always go 10 degrees colder than you ever expect for you can always vent it. As far as I know it's the same with UQ's. Just spent a 34 degree night in a Vertex last night with my 20 degree sleeping bag and a pad... CBS was the only crimp in an otherwise perfect night. Gotta save for that UQ!
Hammock Gear and Underground Quilts are the two moat popular options for down underquilts right now.
If you're not worried about weight take a look at AHE's line of synthetic "Kick *** Quilts".
