Hi all!
I've mastered tent camping and while doing so i chilled in a hammock for some r&r. I was hooked. Looking to get up to speed on sleeping in one / camping in one here.

You're in the right place for that.
IMO, you're best off doing a whole lot of research BEFORE you jump in. Saves buying now and buying again (and again).
Word of warning, there is very little available 'off the shelf' here in Ontario. The good stuff all has to be either DIY'd or brought in from the cottage vendors in the US. Me, I did a whole lot of cross border shopping.
There's also quite an active (and friendly) group known as the Eastern Great Lakes (EGL) hangers that can help you out. Check in on the forum section labeled 'Other'. in the trip planning area.
Hiya from Toronto. Like Old Boot said, do your homework here before spending too much money on gear. If you're handy with a sewing machine DIY is a great way to go but there's lots of great equipment available online.
you're always welcome to come by one of our EGL hangs. The next one we're doing is likely a cold weather hang at the Valens Conservation Area near Hamilton.

If ordering from the U.S. remember to request they ship USPS, not UPS, FedEx etc. Shipping with the private companies you will pay duty plus a brokerage fee. I bought a hammock for $100 and it was shipped with one of the private couriers and had to paid $20 in duty , which I expected. and a $30 brokers fee. I have since made other purchases from the US and UK using USPS and Royal Mail respectively and have yet to pay duty or brokers fees.
Oh yeah, and a hearty welcome from the shores of the St Lawrence River!

Welcome from southwestern Ontario.
Welcome
The best time of the year to camp, IMHO, is fast approaching. If you have your insulation systems sorted for deep cold, keep an eye out for upcoming winter group hangs.
Cheers

Welcome from Saskatoon great time to get into hammocks!
Welcome from a crazy Canuck in Detroit.
Welcome to HF from Scotland! You've definitely come to the right place for all things hammock related.
Welcome from the Northwest of Ontario! Tons of great info here. If you can make it to a hang, you'll get to see many different options and see what you like about certain ones.
