    Question relocating... need insight!

HELP!! i'm very excited to be moving from cold and snowy pittsburgh, pa to warm and sunny phoenix, az. my only question is, where can i hang around there? i have visited phoenix before but didn't have much time to sight see so i'm very ignorant to it. i know there is a national forest nearby to phoenix but i'm not sure if that is a forest with heavy trees or not?? any insight and help will be greatly appreciated. also, as a side note, i won't be moving there until april of 2015 so i have a few months.

There are lots of places to hang in AZ. There are some great forests to the north out of Phoenix. Lots of options just out of Sedona, Flagstaff, Payson.....the list goes on. There is a pretty good member base in AZ so I am sure you will get more specific location suggestions but you will not have to go back to the dirt.

thank you. that was my biggest scare, i'm not sure that i could actually go back to the ground. there are trees all around here which is nice but when i was in phx, i didn't see many trees. only cacti. haha. i was a little south of phx. idk about you but i'm not all about hanging from a cactus!

Although everyone thinks of Arizona as a desert, a huge amount of the state is actually forest. Lots of places to hang.

I was in Phoenix a few years back (before I even got into hanging) so I didn't really notice much. But now I'm even more excited to go. Thank you.

You need to hand in Arizona. It's the first place I saw nice pine groves with cactus underneath the pines. ;-))

Indyface, There are tons of places to hang in Arizona. Don't worry about it. We can make lots of suggestions about awesome places to hang for either backpacking or car camping.

That said, I do have a t-word and pad that I use for certain desert trips.
