    Wink gear testing hang

So let me first just say that I got 2 new pieces of gear since I last went into the woods. I got a bugnet from a very talented woman. It's a bottom entry net which I actually like. I will have to tweak my ridgeline to be a little higher though. I was bug free in my back yard... however, it IS fall so there are a lot less of them. I'm surprised at exactly HOW see through it is. I was able to see the few suburb stars last night!!

Second, I got a Jarbidge River UQ. I'm VERY impressed with the difference that it makes. I sleep hot so I used to use a pad with a fleece blanket that I made over the pad. Then I'd climb into my sleeping bag and be good to go. However, in anything less than 45-50... I'm not sure that I would be comfortable with that setup. This UQ kept me toasty all night. And the setup was so simple that a young child could do it. I'm a very basic person so the fact that there weren't a hundred things to do to set up was amazing.

So here i am, waking up to the sound of suburb traffic and birds with a giant smile on my face. Going into work tonight won't be as awful as usual. I had a great night's sleep (like usual when I'm in my hammock) and I even sighed relief when I woke up to find myself in my hammock. Overall, I give the UQ a 10/10 and the net a 9/10 until I tweak my ridgeline.

Now about the night. Not much actually happened. Came home from work around 6, set everything up by 630 while there was still a little sunlight. Went inside to eat dinner and shower. Came back out and crawled right in. I attempted to finish my book but that wasn't happening bc I found my eyelids heavy within 20 min. Fell asleep and woke up around 7 to puppy paws on my backside (side sleeper) when the dogs were let out to go to the bathroom. They went back inside and I fell back to sleep. Woke up an hour later and here I am, typing this up, really not wanting to break down "camp" and head inside.

IMO, the best part about gear testing is sleeping outside.

Glad everything worked out well for you in your gear testing and led to a great night sleep. Anytime you can get outside and test gear out makes for a great day. It's even better when everything is successful in testing.
    Is it hang time yet?

Nothing like a back yard camp out to tide you over until you can hit the woods. Plus I love testing stuff where I can go in if it gets to cold.

my neighbors thought i was nuts because i had to hang everything from the fence posts. they said "you aren't seriously sleeping out here tonight are you? it's going to be cold!" i confidently said "of course i am and i bet i'm warmer than you." well... they checked on me on their way to work this morning. they were jealous ha. so now, i have more people who want to take it to the trees. or in my case, the fence posts

I sunk a eye bolt into the corner of my garage on one side and use a tree on the other. First time I hung out my neighbor thought I was drying a tent upside down. Later he came over and wanted to check it all out when he figured out it was a hammock.

I'm glad everything worked out for you! I've noticed that hammocks are great convo starters too. Once, I was in a campground and had set up earlier and was sitting at the table and it was getting dark and this kid walks up and says, "Is everything alright?"
    I was like, "Huh? yes."
He said, "I don't see your tent."
I jumped up and dragged him off to see my hammock. It was great! He was suitably impressed. lol
If you don't experiment, you don't learn!
