There have been a few of these threads popping up recently as it is that time of the year. Well a group of us headed up to Bear Church Rock out here in Shenandoah National Park. Not an overly long hike, just wanted to shake the cob-webs loose from the summer. Also it was my buddies birthday and he wanted to go hiking. Temps were nice, about 67 during the day and in the high 30s at night. My girlfriend and I recently picked up a couple HG Incubators and this was our first outting with them. I don't plan to turn this into a gear review so I'll just say, awesome. We hiked up about half way until we got to where we wanted to camp, then stashed our bags and continued to the summit about another 2 miles. Along the way we stopped at the Jones Mountain Cabin for some quick photos. The vistas at the top were typically Virginian with amazing greenery and lots of granite. Packed along some hot beverages and enjoyed the top for awhile. Back down the mountain to grab our gear and set up camp. We camped along the Staunton river down in a fantastic valley pretty far off the trail. My girlfriend was in her Hennessy Asym Zip and I was in my Clark NX-250. Oh also there were some ground dwellers. By the time camp was set up, all three of our buddies were taking turns in our hammocks because they are interested in hanging. To be fair, one buddy has been on the fence for awhile but the other two had no experience whatsoever. All three are right on the edge and like a drug dealer I keep pushing the product! I've included a few pictures of the weekend. Next trip is right around the corner and I can't wait.
