    Cuben Fiber Stuff Sack Ripped

I don't think I was being particularly rough when I stuffed my quilt in, but my stuff sack burst. I suspect it was caused by trapped compressed air (so because if the impermeable nature of cf). Is this a common problem for waterproof or cf stuff sacks? Is there a better technique to use than just stuffing it in? Are there better materials that are light weight and will protect my quilt from zippers on my knapsack, that don't have this issue?

My guess is there was a small cut or tear in the CF that grew from the pressure of the down no wanting to be compressed.

Is that a stuff sack or a pack liner? Just curiius. Also from the look of it, it appears it busted at the bottom of the bag along the seam where it was taped or sewn? IT may of been a weak seam and not the cuben fault per say but it's hard to tell fro. The pic.

I would think a little stronger material for crammin' might be in order. CF is kind of a light use material IMHO.

It was in the middle of the material (not on a seam). And I heard it pop like a balloon, so it might have just been a weak spot in the fabric.

I've been using HG cuben fiber stuff sacks for about six months now with no issues. I don't expect them to last forever but they're doing fine so far.

Can't think of any other way to get a quilt in a stuff sack other than stuffing it.

Just get a trash compactor bag and throw everything thing in. You only need stuff sacks for toiletries, first aid, electronics, and maybe maps. All go in the cp bag compress enough to leave room for food bag shelterand any other need in now stuff. Give the bag a few twist and tuck the "goose neck" away. The quilts will expand into any extra space stabilise the pack.

Agreed. This really saves me time and effort.

Aren't you worried about your quilts ripping from the other items? Even down jackets have rather scary looking zippers, and pants occasionally have sharp fasteners. It just doesn't seem to be worth risking what keeps you warm at night.
