Hello, I just spent a few nights in the Lawson Blue Ridge Hammock again to do another review for fun.

Great video with awesome insight/info. Really appreciate you posting. Lawson Hammock (Blue Ridge Camping Hammock) tent hammocks are the best and love that they are so versatile, can be used on the ground and have a "flatter" bed for a more comfortable sleep than other hammocks. If you want to pack it down smaller or have a lighter load, you can remove the spreader bars, but at approx. 4lbs, it's light enough for me considering that weight includes the rain fly and bug netting and the fact that I don't need to carry a ground tarp like I do with a tent. Good stuff BackPackHiker!

Thanks, I might try taking the bars out to see how comfortable it is without the bars. I actually like it with the bars. Have you used it without the bars in the past?

Thanks for the review! Anyone ever try cutting the bars in the middle and adding a sleeve to rejoin them at setup? I'd like to be able to cut the packed length in half and I wonder if anyone has ever tried it.

    That's an interesting idea.

I wrote a thread a while back about how the bars actually broke in half under my weight when I essentially hung the hammock from paracord tied to the bars. It became sort of a bridge hammock, and I remember it being much more stable.

You might try this website. The author talks about replacing his 2 piece spreader bar with a 3 piece spreader bar of carbon fiber. Gives some good detailed instructions, too.
