    what iam doing wrong ?

I got a ddxl tarp ,love it for the size ( car camp so not worried about weight ),but the last time out it rained all day, heavy rain , I was dry as a bone under it it with room to cook relax etc ect , no leaks anywhere ,some time during the night it went below freezing point and when I woke up ( still bone dry and warm ) went outside to wee wee ,and the whole tarp was covered in frozen rain drops stiff as a plank, but no big deal ,until I started to cook breakfast ,then I was getting the odd drip on my head ,when I went outside of the tarp again I could see a patch on the tarp starting to thaw out ( on the outside above the stove ) question , is that normal condensation ? or did I have my tarp to high ? it was approx. 16" to 2 feet above my hammock, and staked out at bed time about 2 ft above ground but both ends closed over ( like doors ), I went fishing right after breakfast because the sun was starting to feel nice and warm, when I came back to the hammock approx. 3 hrs latter no drips inside at all,but still water drops on the top of the tarp ,( slightly in the shade ) did I cause the condensation by cooking ,or was the tarp stung to high?,never had this happen so please forgive the newbee questions
try to attach a pic of outside tarp frozen

condensation probably formed from your breath and the weather conditions because the doors were closed and didn't have enough breeze to move the moisture out. Not a big deal.

thanks dangerous, just was not sure if it was a tarp problem or my set up, I will be aware of this in the future and change my setup a little bit

I set my Superfly up really tight (think tent like) and moisture from me frosted the underside up pretty badly. Now I ALWAYS make sure that I leave a little gap where my suspension goes through, to let the warm moist air rise and go out. I haven't had a problem since.

hey beast ,I think that's what I did wrong, i battened down the tarp too much like a tent ,I will definitely learn from this mistake, that was the first below freezing I have had experience with in my hammock, so thanks to all with your help ,as usual this form has been a great source of info, nothing beats someone's actual experience to help a guy out .

If you watch Shug's vids from about 4 or so years ago, he had some of these problems as well. Or at least touched on them from others experience?

Lot's of info from them oldies but goodies.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

I also think it was just a weird condensation thing. With some weather you just can't avoid it. Last year at Thanksgiving I had the inside of my hex tarp frost without me being under it. I wonder if it was moisture coming up off the creak in that instance, it was just a few feet away.
