I'm in for Bundle 1. Thank you
There is some good hiking in Hocking. If you stay in the walk in sites at Hocking, you can go from old man's cave down to Ash cave along the buckeye trail "Grandma Gatewoods trail" and back taking...
I'm in for bundle 3. Thank you.
Sorry to hear about your loss. Very kind of you to honor it by passing the gear along to others to use.
I would like to be in for bundle 3 please
I hadn't thought about the mask. I don't have a problem sleeping with the noise, but have woken up at first light every time I've been out.
I hope the Wildcat Hollow trail dries up by then. It was extremely muddy 2 weeks ago when I hiked it. Made for some hard miles.
Thank you. I tested mine out the other day and it will need to be modified before being able to really use it.
I'll try your method after trimming more off of it and hopefully get better results.
I recently attempted to modify my old synthetic mummy bag into an UQ. While it should work ok(waiting on shock cord to come in to test it), I had several issues while making it. I had never used a...
I did the same thing. I was really confused when Sam would just get food from people he passed by until I saw the pictures.
Glad you had a good trip despite the setbacks.
This is a very information rich thread. I just started doing some diy gear this week. Mainly just accessories. Had never touched a thread injector before. Will definitely be referring back here when...
I would think an easy thing to do would put the owner/mod links for contacting them directly in the FAQ. I haven't been around that long, but I've never scrolled down far enough to see the "Contact...
Looks like a nice spot to hang. Ill be making some adjustments to my setup before I go out to the woods with it in a couple weeks. Should make it significantly more comfortable.
Please tell me you don't mean Restroom when you said your hanging in your RR
I think I am gonna head there next month possibly the 20th/21st
I haven't been at it long enough to say what I always do, but have been trying to keep it at sitting height
I read a bunch here, watched videos and just did a backyard hang. Next month will be the first time actually out in the woods with it. You can learn a lot online but retain more by doing.
Looks like an interesting concept, but needs more development. Especially in the weight vs function area.
Great looking hammock. That's a good way to get younger ones outside more.
It's an adjustable whoopie sling style. I'll check the length on it and try again. After watching that I think I may have been set up a little too flat.
I thought about going tarpless, but decided to use one just because I didn't want the condensation. It was 90% humidity last night, woke up and it's still at 84% now
Some takeaways from my first night. Overall slept well once I found a good spot. Kept sliding toward the foot end so I will need to adjust that better next time.
My structural Ridgeline seems...
It's a chill gorilla tarp
Giving my setup a trial run in the backyard. Supposed to get down to around 40 so that's probably about my limit with just a pad and no UQ.
Got 2 of the 3 kids in the tent beside me too. 174314
Glad to see it all worked out. Could have been much worse.
It's always good to get the occasional reminder of how easily things can go wrong and to be able to retrace your steps to get out of...
That's what I was hoping for. I think I'll pick one or two up and try it. They are both under 5' for now.
Thanks
Sounds like a good adaptation. Also makes me glad I live where very few tornados pass through
That looks like it's on our way to where we are staying. Should be able to check it out.
How's the fishing on Spry? We will have a canoe to use and I was gonna get a 1 day license.
I'll have to see if we can fit that into the schedule. Looks like a nice area to check out.
My family will be heading up to the Bruce Peninsula this summer for a couple days. I am trying to decide what the best shortish (under 10 miles) trails would be to take for a hike with at least the...
I have an extra set of whoopie slings for suspension and a pad for insulation. For bug protection I would just get/make a fronkey style bugnet.
I'm mainly just wondering if it would hold up well...
I see that Menards has their Guidesman brand hammocks on sale for $10 a piece. They look like basic parachute material and about 10' long.
I'm wondering if these would work to take the kids...
I haven't been hanging long enough to fall yet. Hopefully that doesn't change.
Always good when libraries and such help educate people about something they may not have considered before.
I've also debated about going with an asym for my next hammock but haven't seen what the major benefits are from it.
Have you had any issues with the emt bending or deforming with use?
You could use part of it for a backpack cover or inner liner.
Heres mine. First time Ive set it up in the yard. Learned Im going to need some longer tree straps. Had to improvise with tow straps on one tree.
edit: Not sure why its turning the photo upside...
This is a really good idea. Thanks for sharing. Snake skins were on my list of wants but didn't want to Shell out the money for. I think I'll pick a couple up next time I'm at the dollar store
What height did you build it to? Also what length hammock can it hang comfortably? Thinking of building one this summer
Is the walk in primitive site in the state campgrounds or where is it? Was looking to bring the kids down there later in the summer
Could always try using a lint roller. It's surprising how much stuff those can pick off fabrics.
Nice. I'm always envious of those who's wife will camp with them. My wife absolutely refuses to try. Then again, it does give me time with just me or me and the kids....
Sounds good. I'm starting love backpacking and the weight of it is high, but it's what was in the budget for now.
Glad to hear it should last a few years. That's plenty of time to get prepped for...
Good point. I'll check the simply light one out, hadn't looked at that one before.
How long did you use this tarp? Did you replace it with a cottage vendor because of an issue with the chill gorilla or just because you could get a better and lighter tarp?
I'm wondering because I...
My dad used a shade tarp behind his house for an easy shaded spot. This route could allow for adjusting it to get more coverage depending on where the sun is at by adding eyelets down your supports.
What is it about them that you can't stand? The reason I'm still using the stuffed clothes route is I haven't been able to decide to go stuffed or inflatable
You're group must be more calm than my son's. I would gaurantee that several would run into it at night in our bunkhouses that we stay in.
I like this idea. Cheap, light, and easy
