    Synthetic for indoor use should work just fine, and it will be cheaper.
    Down will compress better for trips but since you are stationary, synthetic should work fine.

    I bought a 43 dollar (now 49, apparently) lightweight tarp from aliexpress. It was 20d, aroung 400g (14,1oz apparently) it works fine. I still prefer my heavier Hennessy hex fly.
