Keep posting. I started in 2018 because of this post. I have since had almost one trip per month with my friends. We're quite fortunate to be able to do that.
Just like you say. Weather isn't an...
Simple enough. Just bring your Trail Lair. If you're traveling via hammock Norway isn't too costly. The aurora is here all year around, but most easily enjoyed from october thru april.
i'm going on...

May - a wonderful sunny afternoon with spectactular Aurora borealis in the evening.

June - Three day trip to inland Otta to escape brutal rain by the coast where...
a toothbrush, warm water and baking soda would make that puppy a heck of a lot purtyer. Cool hammock, tho!
Also. If anyone is looking for the ultimate scandi-roasted coffee, visit my friends at...
I support the bathtub people. And silk liners for trips you know will get funky. Easier to wash the silk liner than the hammock itself.
I think the baffles need to be specifically vertical in order to work in the Amok. That's my experience anyway.
Hello Fellow scandinavian. If you ever are in the west of Norway, let me know and I'll tip you off on some prime spots :)
On one end of my ridgeline, I have a carabiner. On the other end, I have a figure 9. Running zing-it as the main ridgeline. In the guylines I just have a loop at the end of the guyline and a lineloc...
i'm sure they're both good. My SLD Winter haven is an excellent tarp. It's held up to some of the worst weather. When the snow is so sticky that it doesn't slide freely off the super slick silpoly...
I use it on my Trail Lair and I find the one static end is just fine. I often stack it with my Massdrop DIY quilt. Such as this:180393
We have a lot of mossy ground. As such, I have an assortment of stakes that have failed me. Shepherd hooks, both thin and thick, V stakes and groundhogs have all betrayed me in the heavy moss. I have...
What type of fabric, (IE: is it comfy to rest my head against?) and how much do I have to bribe you to make one pillowcase and one small bag, which is more compressed?
Does it come with a stuffsack?
For the junkertarp (used for above the bonfire) I use a continous ridgeline from Paracord and a night ize Figure9
For my main tarps I use a Dutch continous ridgeline (zingit, wasp, titanium hook,...
Cinch buckle <3. I have used my Klymit insulated Hammock V successfuly down to -2c (27F). I did see some condensation at that temperature. I suspect that around 0c a UQ is superior. Reenforcing Pads...

Three Amoks and a trail lair by a lake in the northwest of Norway yesterday.
I am considering sewing a laser cut winter12 from RBTR.
I would love to see both the hex kits and winter kits you guys have made. Also if you could talk a little about how much swearing there was...
Borg means castle in Norwegian. I do like the Star Treek adaptation of it. :D
I always have a pair of earplugs in a small mesh pocket inside my sleeping bags. They're there if too loud rain, wind, birds or rivers keep me up. Most of the time I don't need it.
Indeed! Could you share some pictures of it hanged. with focus on how the shock cord hangs from the UQ to the suspension?
10c? That sounds terrible.
Synthetic for indoor use should work just fine, and it will be cheaper.
Down will compress better for trips but since you are stationary, synthetic should work fine.
Quick thinking is really the key. Your equipment can be used in several ways. Always.
Being prepared is both a matter of equipment and a state of mind. They go hand in hand.

Welcome, russian friend. Greetings from Norway. :)
Forums are getting a new spring. But just as life it's a series of waves. Some come, while some go.
I was part of another forum for over a decade. Built it up from virtually nothing. Now I've moved...
Can't do anything except agree wholeheartedly. I'm very happy with my Trail Lair and the experience of buying and customising it.
The only downside is that I know there's a winter haven in my...
I have to add: I love the nerdyness of this thread. I am absolutely intrigued!
Well. To be honest. I drink beers around the campfire. Therefore I pee. But I do pee more frequently when hammocking. Just not entirely sure why.
Kidney theory sounds interesting.
Ah! The dreaded Mandolinitis. That's always annoying. Shouldn't take much more than a few Ukecillin and it ought to be gone.
I bought some reflective zing it from Dutch and after having played with this for a while I can't say I'm sold.
The stretch from the paracord, when tightened with a trucker's hitch of a Figure 9...
Have to join the fanclub. It's an absolute pleasure of a hammock. Such beautiful work and great service and turnaround time.
Now I just need to help myself from buying his winter/wind haven. They...
It's right there in the screenshot. My last comment was "so only summer trips for you?" - The discussion was regarding whether it was warm enough for hammock use in winter time.
To be clear, I am...
So i responded in a comment on a video the other day, where I was discussing insulated vs uninsulated pads.
It seems this discussion intrigued the folks in the Social media dept. at Sea to summit....
They are in the same stuffsack always. And I have one for each tarp.
I don't think it's easier. I have tried it and find it more cumbersome. Maybe if I had snakeskins? I don't use those, so For now...
Well I guess in theory this should work with zing it and/or lash it or similar? Amsteel... well any kind of cord like material. Or?
I guess this would work with amsteel, cordura, zing it or whatever. Doesn't have to be paracord.
why not by the way?
I have realised that I was just stupid lucky in my first attempt. A combination of eagerness to learn (youtube marathoning) and luck led me to my current configuration. It is not the lightest. By...
About a year ago, I was just getting into hammock camping. I stumbled across David Canterbury on a late night youtube binge, and from his channel I stumbled further into his colleagues channel:...
I'm gonna go ahead and keep blowing your mind. This is from a hammock trip last october. The trip was 20 minutes driving from my house and a brisk 40 minute hike.
We are genuinely spoilt with our...
could you share an image of the aftermath? Of the loops, not your butt. Although hugeass bruises are entertaining, I'm more interested in seeing what failed. I too have those loops.
I bought a 43 dollar (now 49, apparently) lightweight tarp from aliexpress. It was 20d, aroung 400g (14,1oz apparently) it works fine. I still prefer my heavier Hennessy hex fly.

I should have mentioned that: I use the pump sack for inflation. It works fine. The deflation/roll/pack is a real problem - I agree.
Oh I just might! I have the massdrop quilt, and I will look for pointers on making that into a UQ at some point. (although I have already made an attempt at it.)
@virtualbotanist I suggest bringing a sleeping mask. It's so bright that if you are not used to it, you won't be able to sleep.
and Hi, fellow Norwegian! :)
Hi!
I am Andreas. A 1985 model type married man with two kids.
Whenever I don't work on remodeling our house or other mundane tasks, I go hammock camping with one or more friends. Generally, we...
I have been using the Hammock V for well over a year now. Going from 20F (+6c) all the way up to high sixties (19c) It has been rock solid.
I think much of it's success for me is that it stays put....
