I know your in Minnesota, I'm traveling to the twin cities for work tomorrow to Friday if you live close you could borrow it for the week to check it out.
Both ways are fine, like the others already said above and this topic comes up all over the place.
Try both and see what you like better, HYOH.
I prefer the firmness of a double layer, in find it more comfortable but some other non pad benefits as well.
I find it easier to get in and out out. When you have really stretchy hammocks and...
You can always put a different bug net on it
Yes it is
A new package just came in the mail a few mins ago

After seeing all the hype about the majestic hammock I thought that's a great thing to spend some of my tax return on, so pulled the...
What tarp are you using? While most just talk about tarp length, width also can matter for blocking wind. I've seen tarps from 7' wide to 11'6" wide and everywhere between. The wider the more wind...

They have a lifetime warranty, I had a bad rip called them up and they sent me a replacement no hassle, I didn't have to send my old one in or anything. It was so easy. Call them, their customer...

I ordered a Majestic hammock that I'm excited to get, should be soon now.
Also the dutchware chameleon with build in UQ also seems interesting.
I also want to get a hive.
Yes you can definitely put a blanket over your ridgeline to help trap in heat. Some companies sell top covers, which are big net replacements that are solid with a couple of vents for condensation.
I generally don't like pads because they take away from the comfort of the hammock but if your UQ isn't warm enough they can help. With your wool blanket you can drape that over your ridgeline and...
The issue with the kammock tarps are the width, lacks a lot of wind protection. 9' wide, where the Superfly is 10' and the dutchware wide tarps are 11.5' wide.
The difference in width per side...
What tarp do you have?
I think it's the best of the budget gear, they design it like the cottage brands, actually 11' hammocks, peaks, ridgelines, zip on bug net, etc... They just use the cheapest possible materials and...
I agree with this, I have a dream hammock sparrow that is 1.7 MTN, so quite wide and 11' and I have a ton of space in it and I'm 6'2". A 12' one would be plenty of room for someone a few inches...
When people hang on trekking poles, they are tensa tracking poles which are heavy duty ones made to hold that weight and anchored in with very deep stakes that also have a 90 degree anchor attached...
Standard, I've spent some time in it now. I had a few cold spots but I just had to move the down around a bit, settled after shipping.
Yeah I'm a part of a bunch of a Facebook groups and it's very hit and miss, there is great stuff but also terrible. I see 2 terrible peices of advice all the time.
1. People always tell you to...
I use a wookie on my dream hammock sparrow and I'm from Wisconsin, so still buggy and I've never had an issue.
Then try just searching for dyneema flat tarp, you can find 10x10s or different sizes. Most hammock makers don't do that because coverage isn't as good so most of their diamond tarps are...
Are you looking just for a dyneema diamond tarp? Or do you want all those extra tie outs?

I have a vertex, we like it a lot. Not always possible to find 3 trees but when you do it's quite nice. It's very stable with the 3 tree set up, still can feel your partner moving but nothing...
I've seen a lot of forums, 2hich I love, get shut down in the last 5 to 10 years because of social media, reddits, discord and such. I think hammock sales are up new vendors keep coming and maybe...
Feels normal so far, I only laid in in for about an hour, and my sparrow I usually use is wider. So hard to say so far, but I did try pulling the hammock all the way apart at the center and I didn't...

Just got mine in and set it up for a test hang
Mine will be here in a few hours, I'm going to set it up right away and I can share pics
Can we get a tease of what's different with them?
If you have a 12 foot tarp with 5 or more tie outs you can make doors. If the tie out points are numbered 1 to 5 left to right, I stake out 2, 3, and 4. Then take shock cord and tie point 1 to...
Congrats on the upgrade, always a fun experience.
As far as next upgrade, I would go tarp because winter is winding down and you can still use your old TQ. Since you had an Eno which is short and...
Started with some cheap Amazon hammock I got on prime days
Got a few upgrades between them and now.
Dutchware Chameleon with zip has been ordered
It's not just the straps but also the hammock material itself. I have a Dream Hammock Sparrow 1.7 MTN double layer and whoopie slings. I'm about 280 and that thing barely sags an inch when I get...
A lot of times in the summer I only use a 40 degree UQ, I get to warm for a TQ. If anything I would just use a utility blankets, I don't want a footbox in the summer.
The Superfly is 10' wide, dutchware is 11'6" wide. How wide is the simply light designs? I looked but they don't list it.
Someone in the a Facebook hammock group put pictures of the sewing the UQ on causing issues.

That makes it way easier. At your height and weight I would get an 11' wide. That takes out the hammock gear kits or superior. Chameleon or Sparrow would be my 2 recommendations based on what you...
I'm also excited about the side zip tarp
What kinda tarp coverage/shape are you looking for?
Did you find the quilt you were looking for?
Both, 80% back, 20% side. In bed I'm 90% side 10% back
Good to know, thanks.
I have the wide rectangle with a pole mode, bought before xenon but I love that tarp. The coverage is huge, the inner pole mod really opens it up, the inner Ridgeline is handy to hang things. It's...
Ridgeline organizers are a must imo. You can always buy ones you can put in later, hammockgears velcros over. I think dream has Thiers sewn shut and puts it over when they make the hammock.

Kids love it
What hammock is it? Most I've seen the Ridgeline doesn't stop you from removing the bug net. The net usually zips on top of the net.
You could look at a Clark 2 person hammock for them. That way they are together and that is a warm and bombproof hammock.
Someone in a Facebook group brought up he liked it because you don't have to stake it out. I feel like I would be claustrophobic like that, I like the open air, but each to their own.
I live in Madison so I might check it out.
My first hammock had a lot of stretch and my second hammock has almost none. I find it way easier to get out of the firmer material.
Also like others said you should set up your hammock to...
