Just wondering if anyone has taken a ridgerunner with spreader bars on a plane in carry on luggage? Want to take them with me but not sure if the airline will say no!

Just wondering if anyone has taken a ridgerunner with spreader bars on a plane in carry on luggage? Want to take them with me but not sure if the airline will say no!
I have the cloudburst. Works well! But you have to pay attention when setting it up so that the RR doesn't poke it.
But not the Cloudburst?
Can you share a pic? I was thinking of something similar!
Can you use your hiking poles instead? I need some for my Cloudburst but it's a lot more weight to carry
Very wise words!
One step at a time
So I ended up hacking and hacking away at a bush (man it was into that post but good!) and I hung the head end strap on that post, giving me more space than the previous post. It's perfect! No sag. I...
Personally I found your hammock (my first hammock) hard to get right every night on the AT, and also had problems with the getting the UQ perfect.
Try switching to the Ridgerunner. Set up is a...
True, but it's shame I'd have to spend the night worrying I'll wake up to a flashlight and a police officer/ranger telling me off/fining me
The UK is very frustrating. There are many trails and walks near me, I live in a dang forest, but I am absolutely NOT allowed to sleep in THE FOREST in my hammock. I even called the forestry...
I wish I could go higher, that garden post at 5.25 feet is as high as I can get for one point. Maybe the best bet would be to install a 6 foot post at around the 16 foot mark. In the UK buying...
The straps are Dutchware! So the distance is too much! Maybe I need to install a post a bit closer...
I have my ridgerunner up in the back garden. Like so:
182400
Before I drilled an anchor point into the wall, it was attached to the tree. However I think the space was too short. It felt like...
No sale on Spindrift sock. Boo :(
Actually it works with accessories!
Shipping to UK, can paypal.
I don't find them sharp at all
I'm in the same boat, would love to do a 2 day overnight like Shug does. I'm in the South West
I finally got to use these, set up exactly as they are in the tutorial video. They work great! Easy to install, easy to set up and adjust. Had the Cloudburst set up in the garden for about a week,...
I have the Potomac and when it's set up correctly (there's a learning curve) that thing is toasty!
Yeah, hammocks with all the bits will end up being bulkier/heavier than the ultralight tents these days. But you're getting that comfort (never wake up with aches again!)
I have the Hyperlite and...
It's just practice. My first few nights on the AT were weird and I was conscious of every sound and whisper of wind. By the end of it you don't pay even notice the breeze
Happy birthday Shug! Thanks for all your videos and looking after Bean. Hope you have a great day!
I was obsessed with getting that 30 degree angle like you are in my HH, as all the sites tell you to, so I was always perplexed that hanging it nearly straight like Tom does in on the HH seemed to be...
I wear UniQlo heattech underwear and works a treat. Thin, warm, comfy, cheap
The first time I ever used a hammock/tarp/TQ/UQ/everything was in the middle of a day-long downpour on my first day hiking the Appalachian Trail. If I muddled my way through, you'll be fine!
I've got the DL RR and the Klymit V insulated pad, but not had the chance to use them together yet (in the wrong country!). Can you tell me how you rate sleeping in it with the Klymit? How warm is...
I need more practice but my Ultralite Asym always felt more comfortable when hung pretty tight like in the official videos, less so at 30 degrees
I use a reversible stuffsac pillow from Hyperlite Mountain Gear. In the day it carries my PJs, camp clothes etc then at night I reverse it get the nice fluffy side and stick my puffy coat, underwear...
Wow! These look amazing! Looks so much easier than having a CRL for the tarp, and attaching them to the guylines looks like a breeze! Definitely ordering these!
I always found that hanging my Hennessy Ultralite pretty tight was more comfortable than at 30 degrees. They also hang it like this in the official videos. Of course I'm not very tall and pretty...
Stock rope. Just wrap the tree huggers round the tree, thread the rope through both ends, then tie the Becket Hitch
I've only ever used the Becket Hitch on my Hennessy, works great and never falters
Thank you so much for the feedback! I got back in touch with Warbonnet thanks to Shug, and got them to include that guyline with my Ridgerunner that hasn't shipped yet. I'll let you know how it goes!...
Thanks! That's so expensive *sob* English prices.
So I add the prusik knot with a separate piece of zing-it?
Edit: I don't need 180ft of zing- it, I only need about 30
I hang my pack off the tree webbing if it's dry.
I use my Frog Togg poncho on the ground for my shoes, sometimes my bag. Super versatile, that thing!
I want to make this ridge line as shown here: http://theultimatehang.com/2012/11/24/video-using-continuous-ridge-lines-with-a-tarp/
Looks simple, I want to give it a try, but just wondering what...
Warbonnet sale up! Finally got the Ridgerunner and Cloudburst tarp after a year of dreaming. Whooo buddy!
I really hope Warbonnet do a sale, and give a good discount on the Ridgerunner. Hopefully between 25-27 Nov based on past years (yes I checked)
Oh I have, love his videos! Nice to watch before bed. His ambles are a far cry from HK, I'll tell ya
Cheers!
Haha, true! I guess I figured I had nothing to contribute, but I've been bored at work, perusing these forums, watching Shug, so I wanted to say hi.
I didn't finish the thru sadly, woke up one day...
I've been reading this forums for a while, thought I'd say hello!
Currently living in HK, but will be going back to good ol' Blighty soon. There is no hammock camping here, way too humid!
I...
I was reading books by AT thru-hikers for research, and one, 300 Zeroes, mentioned the benefits of using a hammock over a tent. After that I was hooked!
The first time I ever used a hammock was my first night on my AT thru-hike attempt last year.
Never put a hammock or a tarp up before. In the pouring rain.
It was not ideal! Ah memories.
