I prefer full length. Weight savings of 3/4 is 5-7 ounces, less if you consider the weight of a supplemental pad.

I'll take it.
Look through the threads from the last couple of weeks. Someone floated the idea of a western Washington hang this month. A winter trip was also mentioned. And get your snowshoes tuned-up!
What about a cheap piece of reflectix from Homedepot?
I would be interested. Where are you thinking of doing this?
Puncture is a weakness of cuben, but it does repair easily (if not totaled). I don't use any bungee lines with my cuben setup as I've had them launch stakes with more than enough force to shred my...
I would recommend Loco Libre particularly for their underquilts. The sizing options there are amazing, goes in one inch increments. If you need a 73" quilt, you can get a 73" quilt. You don't have...
When I upgraded from a ULA pack to a Zpack Arc Haul, the fit wasn't right and I sent it back for exchange. You pay a premium for their gear, but you're not just getting great gear. You're also...
My next purchase will probably be a HG Winter Palace. I like the extra coverage it provides.
What about picking up some beaks? But it's probably better to just upgrade the whole thing.
IMHO it's better to have the doors, and tie them back when it's fair, than to not have doors. Just more versatile and with cuben fiber, almost no weight penalty.
Dream setup:
Bonefire Whisper insulated hammock..................$450.
HG Winter Palace tarp.......................................$395
Dutchware continuous...
Was thinking about this upgrade. But this gives me something to consider. I appreciate the sharing of gear wonkerie.
Down gear and a wind sock would make the difference.
That does look like a new design. Previously, their bags used only horizontal baffles.
If you get the doors, you can always tie them open. But if you don't get doors you're just out of luck when weather hits. I have a HG standard tarp with doors and I don't ever wonder if I should...
I'm very happy with my 30* EE revelation. I had been using my 25y/o Sierra Designs down bag...dropped almost 2lbs. just like that.
I'm really looking forward to my Carolina Reaper arriving in the next few weeks! That chevron design looks amazing in burnt orange.
I live in Tacoma. But two of my favorite places for multi-day trips are Mt. Adams and Mt. St. Helens. Is that area do-able for you? And I wouldn't mind seeing what the Gorge is like, also.
I like the idea. It's a good goal. Every so often, I feel stir crazy and want to get out of the city, but I don't act. Adopting this rule would be good for my mental health.
A 3/4 length anything is a "no go" for me! And given that the average pad width is 20" maybe 25" it's just too easy to move out of the comfort zone. Pads in general are not a good choice once...
I don't know how they (if EE) can meet the commitment to ship by Nov 8th. If you were to place an order on their website, it would take 8weeks plus to ship. That's the turn around time that's been...
I considered buying one, for the "that looks cool" factor. But I've used my regular Klymit v pad in the hammock. After 2 nights out with it, I came to the conclusion that I preferred a ccf pad. ...
The pad attachments look like EE style and their new baffle style, maybe. But I didn't see Enlightened Equipment mentioned anywhere in the description. And they say it will ship Nov8th. That...
I use the HG standard with doors. It's a good piece of equipment. But, if I could only own one tarp I think I would go with the winter palace .
That's a piece of art work. Would be a visually striking setup with an appropriately colorful hammock. I like what they do to the ridgeline too.
Here is another tarp worth considering. It's only 11' 4" but it got doors, extra width and it only weighs 12.8 oz! http://www.hummingbirdhammocks.com/pelican
I've never used one in my hammocks. But I do have one with me, if I want one. I use one of the zpacks cuben dry bags that has fleece lining--it's the perfect size for my quilt.
You really gotta spend a lot of time researching and imagining your use if your set on a Dream Hammock. I was sort of overwhelmed by all the options available. But I still think I might need to add...
Wish I lived closer. You people east of the Mississippi have way more group hangs than us west coasters...and the chili aspect is genius!
The description on amazon says it's braided. I wonder how easily it can be used for continuous loops, fixed eyes, etc.
I was tempted to try one and that massdrop price sounds good. I have tried to use my regular klymit v pad, but I actually preferred my ccf pad. This version is 48" wide, but I'm not convinced it...
This thread shared a lot of good insights. Living in the Pacific NW, rain is pretty much inevitable. But a hiker can only carry so many changes of clothing. So I'm interested in the ways that...
I've got an EE revelation, now I'm gonna get a Loco Libre and compare.
Welcome! Sounds like you've got some good equipment. Add a link to your YouTube channel. I'd like to check it out.
Great theme: sunstars. My grandfather grew up in the Carpathians, so I really appreciate you sharing these pictures! It's nice to see for myself what he often talked about.
Seems like a product that's trying to be something for everybody. And it probably doesn't do any of its tasks notably well.
Hammock dimensions are 50" x 100" and it weighs 1.5lbs. (without stuff...
Signed up at Kickstarter. I went to the campaign page and hit the "get yours" button for the Camping model. The site redirects me, then this message appears: "sorry, this project not live." Did...
If I didn't already have HG cuben skin, I'd go with MountainGoat mesh sleeves. Skins/sleeves makes setup much easier, no kite flying. But if I didn't use skins, I would probably go with a Bishop...
If you don't mind the weight, that setup is impressive. Very cool. I'm looking forward to the review.
I've placed two order with Dutch and both times, my orders shipped the next day! You gotta love service like that!
I would recommend going with a full length, first. And if you want to avoid carrying more than absolutely necessary, check out manufacturers like Loco Libre. They make quilts that go up in 1"...
Little Shop of Hammocks, out of Saskatoon, makes interesting hammocks and accessories. I love my BB, but I was thinking about trying one of their hammocks and maybe their UQ protector. Their prices...
I used paracord initially. But I realized that it was bulky, somewhat heavy and tends to retain water.
Also, Zing-it is easy to work with and splice--I've made continuous loops for every use I...
I got mine from Hammock Gear. They make a single 11' snake skin to go with their
cuben fiber tarp for $29.
I'll be interested in hearing how it goes. The design makes sense. Except I'm a shorter guy and it seems like I'd be paying for and carrying around a bit of extra unnecessary down. I keep hoping...
I ran into a couple of thru hikers on the PCT. They told me they made their own quilts to save $$.
I went with an EE top quilt because their sizing and pricing worked out better for me. I had been using a Sierra Design down bag and the difference in quality of the sewing and of the fill is...
I have 11' HG with doors. I think I should have spent the extra cash and got the winter palace. And I'm a big fan of the snake skin.
How is the indoor stand working out? I was thinking about trying one in the basement, but don't want to just throw money away. Any advice? What models did you consider?
