Welcome from Pennsylvania! I was in Hungary a few years back, met some really great people there, can't wait to get back. Happy hanging!
Welcome from Montco.
Agree with the suggestions above. You may also want to look at triangle thingies (or some variant thereof), which pull your UQ upward instead of outward toward the foot end. Helps close up gaps.
I have a JrB Old Rag Mountain I will be looking to sell. I was waiting until my new quilt arrived (birthday present) until I posted the ORG on the for sale forum. Do you need this urgently?
Welcome from Montco, PA! Check out Kyle's video from Ripstopbytheroll on making a gathered end hammock. Great instructions and easy to follow. Good luck!
Welcome from Montco, PA!
Great report! I was there last month, and it sure is a pretty place for a hike.
Welcome! You're not too far down the road from one of Hammock Forum's favorite cottage vendors - Dutchwaregear. Dutch is a great resource for getting started in the hammock world.
This is the stuff you want:
Nikwax Down Wash Direct 300 ml https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XI1WT20/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_OIw.xb0RHY6G5
Don't use any fabric softener either.
None here, but I have heard that from some people. I think the recommendation regardless if it smells or not is to give it a wash, then dry on no heat with tennis balls. Not only are you getting rid...
I got one of these earlier this year, and I can confirm the footbox is stitched. Kind of a pain if you wanted an open quilt design. Overall, I think its a good value though.
Fantastic! thanks Dutch.
Hey Dutch, any updates on the poles?
None taken. Some people are very sensitive about the source of their materials. Figured it was worth noting.
I'm going to guess this isn't ethically sourced down at that price.
Evansburg? Not bad, lots of horse traffic. I mainly head out to the state forests for good hiking and backpacking.
Not that, but maybe some paragraph breaks to make it a little easier to read.:D
Welcome from Montco!
Second the UQP. If you don't want to buy one, they are easy enough to DIY.
I just did the Rocky Knob- Quarry Gap loop. It was about 14 miles and had some nice elevation changes. Definitely a decent starter hike.

Costco (Double Black Diamond) down throws are now available online as a 2-pack for $39.99 plus 7.99 shipping! Looks like membership required, but you could probably buy for a friend and ship it to...
Thanks Dutch! By any chance, will this include the new lighter version that you mentioned previously in this thread?
Definitely keep us posted on this. I will jump on a lighter pole mod once you have it in stock!
Looks good to me! Nice job
That's an awesome idea! I may have to jump on this.
Available in Limerick, PA. I am digging the new Marine Blue color.
Headed out to hike a portion of the AT with the wife. Weather looks good, we're excited to get out without the kids!
Or a 700FP down throw from Costco for $20.
Bummer, I really enjoy your videos, so please keep it up!
Welcome Felix!
This type of thing works for Reddit or Facebook, because they were designed for that purpose. HammockForums uses an older forum style that wouldn't benefit from something like this. Just too...
When I see stuff like that, I knock it down. Most rangers will do the same too.
Here's an interesting article. In places like Ricketts Glen, it really does start to detract from the natural...
Great report! I'm looking forward to checking out this trail, although it'll probably just end up being a day hike for me.
Check out Thunder Swamp trail too. A little more scenic than Pinchot, but a bit more challenging. Not much as far as vistas, but some nice falls, beaver dams, and swamps to check out.
The big...
That looks very nice. I like the taper. How much material did you end up removing?
Agreed. I sleep in running shorts/tshirt in the summer, and these quilts are good down to about 55°F for me. Any lower and I start feeling the chill. Definitely worth the small investment in time...
No CRL here.
Just got mine in the mail today! Joined the drop on 4/29, the drop ended on 5/9, so about 5 weeks after the drop ended. Not too bad
Looks great flash [emoji106]. I don't think the condensation will be too much of an issue, since most water expelled by the body at night is through your breath. Looking forward to the reports from...
Welcome from Montco!
Never been fond of DEET myself. Have had good experience using lemon eucalyptus oil, although I find I have to reapply it more frequently than DEET. I also spray my clothes (except my underwear)...
The Bearrito would be my choice. Thanks!
Thanks for the report. So you think the underquilt is the weak link then? Is yours full length or 3/4? Were you feeling any drafts?
This is exactly what I did. Worked perfectly for two sets of snakeskins, plus a couple ridgeline organizers.
Not exactly sure the issue, is it too short for the length of the tarp, or too narrow? If too short, thats just a minor issue, as the whole tarp doesn't need to be covered by the snakeskins.
Looks great! Perfect summer set of quilts.
And the smell! Gotta love the smell of pines...
Some really cool designs there! Just placed an order.
