I believe I have a ten footer w/doors at home. Will check after work tonight.
I would give it a go!
Both are outstanding. Once HG changed their baffle design (to similar to EE's, actually), it made them similar.
If amount of down fill is comparable, you can't go wrong.
While comfort is subjective, most folks your height will be just fine in standard width. I'm 6' 1"and can be fine in standard, but prefer wide.
The ground is my pee jar
Welcome, from Tallahassee.
Dream Hammock, Warbonnet, Simply Light Designs, Dutchware, among others are all good. Which gear is "best" questions will get so many varied answers that it will...
me too!
Great question! I think some would - but I feel this is such a niche item that it probably won't sell a lot. Most backpackers don't want the added bulk & weight. And the ones that don't mind, I...
Looks amazingly comfortable to me!
Over on BPL, Monte Masterson has made such a lightweight liner / quilt.
Trust PapaSmurf! He & his company are top notch.
Nice review. Thank you.
Would you mind measuring the dimensions of the "extra" panel of fabric? I might mod my Asym tarp with this - getting wet sucks.
Here's why this forum needs a LIKE button :)
Thanks for sharing.
Very nicely done! Your work looks high quality.
Excellent build! Looks good, and I'll be shocked if it doesn't perform as it should. VERY nice!
Our sewing journeys sound similar, although I haven't attempted this project and you have my...
how long are the "vertical" parts of the U-zip? Weight?
One needs to be very small, toss 'n turn very little, or must be able to fall back asleep quickly from moving and letting in a draft for a narrow TQ to be a great choice on the ground. If at least...
Welcome!
Yeah once dialed in, a hammock is so comfy!
What an awesome accomplishment! Way to be tough, too.
Gotit, thank you! Shipping tomorrow and I'll be in touch.
Drop to $45 shipped.
It is the 450.
Bump........
I bought this to lighten it and create a system to use with other canister stoves. I used a Dremel to make slots to hold the pot supports of both the MSR Pocket Rocket and Snow Peak Giga Power...
Very cool (and 🔥 burning) stove. Works great.
$65 shipped ConUS, Paypal.

I apologize for the sideways pic! It looks right prior to upload!
SUPER easy!!!!!! Cut off the sleeves, hem the cut portion, add elastic if needed and sew up one end. DONE!
bump.........
Tarp in sleeve for me, hammock and quilts in a Bishop bag the I made from Sil seconds in 25 minutes. Straps take almost no time to roll up (around the hand then elbow method for me... putting them in...
Well I see nothing at all that speaks negatively about the manufacturer. Not sure what you read that I missed. Odd response to the posts wording.
Back to the OP: you may be onto something with...
Hang your pack from the RL at the foot end - easy deployment. Or a peak bag at the foot end. Or sew a long mesh pocket along the edge of the hammock opposite your feet.
If you have extra lying around, help a brother out! Can buy or trade you for it. I'm in North FL if that helps you estimate shipping.
I want 4yds of the 1.2 Mtn XL hybrid

Welcome. Sounds like a great trip - have a fun time!
My experience as well. Except I'm old - 2002 or 3 for me :)
Size please.
I made a big (much bigger than necessary) Bishop bag that stores my hammock, TQ & UQ. Then I stuff that bundle into my Pack liner and scrunch it down. Works great. I assume by "full hammock setup"...
I pillow, stuffsack written clothing, rolled up jacket, etc was the difference maker for me.
Turn your phone sideways (maybe that will allow you to see more columns in your Inbox).
On the right there is a tiny box you can check for each message you wish to delete.
Then do the same for...
My experience is similar. Take the uq.
Way to go back and finish strong! Tired, yes, but STRONG!!!!! Thank you for the report.
Agreed.
And that liner adds nowhere near that much warmth. And you get to wrestle it.
I respectfully disagree - many DO, in fact, pack their fears. That's how many, many backpackers turned to lightening their loads. They packed based on fears of what COULD happen, not what they...
EDITED TO ADD: I don't recommend this to anyone who doesn't have lots of experience and doesn't know how to properly fit the underquilt, etc.
I've done this quite a few times - with great (and...
Not that you need further affirmation, but I leave mine on when making my hammocks too.
Why is this? I thru-hike it the other way - just wondering????
Welcome from Tallahassee!
Impressive! Very nice tarp.
Make an OGEE.
WAY more usage in the field now vs. then.
But yes, the huge wave of innovation has slowed, and participation in this site has dwindled a bit. Was sooooooo much fun then!
Sweet!!!
Did you allow extra material / differential cut for the insulated section?
