Great Pic! :)
Great idea! I had no idea whoopies worked in other ropes!
Can I please have:
2.Warbonnet 1.1 double layer Traveler. Bought in 2012. Older black/grey version.
Been sitting in my closet a few years and I haven't used it. Just downsizing with hammock...
Whoopies with marlin spikes seem to be the best of the best, in my book! I see no downside, except for the possibility of kids, the might not be careful with the marlin spike or the hitch, etc...
Those look great to me!!!! You should see mine! :)
Hammock Gear makes some amazing stuff and amazing prices! You can't go wrong ordering at their normal asking price. :thumbup1:
I hang my fly rather low, but when I expect rain, I hang it even lower to protect everything on the underside a little better.
If you abrade Tyvek, does it leak???
Sweet set up!!!
Pictures when you get this sorted out, please sir!
Prayers for all!!!
My name is Will and middle initial is "C". My Mom always called me Willic. Embarrassing, but it is what it is! :)
Welcome from Martinsville, Virginia!!!
When not on the trail, I use the Black Diamond Moji Lantern. Works great! On the trail, I use my headlamp.

Man... I would definitely replace if my Amsteel looked like that! I have red on one end of my hammock and grey on the other. The red seems to fade quickly and looks worn, but not frayed. I hung this...
Last Summer at Boy Scout camp, it got cole... Mid to low 60's. I had a 50° tq, but no underquilt. I went to the camp shop and bought a $15 fleece throw much like the blanket you used. A little rope...
So......... while we're on this topic, what about marlin spike failure? One of the fellow hangers in my Boy Scout Troop said he had one break on him! I have been using a solid plastic, but...
Man, this thread scares me! I'm a fat guy... 240# I use 1" straps and I've had the same straps for 3+ years with a weekend a month and 2 weeks a year... I think I'll go inspect them right now!
Whoopies are super simple and a marlin spike hitch is super simple! Go with whoopies!!!
Welcome fellow Hokie! Those 3 peaks are freakin' amazing! What kind of hammock do you currently use?

I'll take unlikely seconds!
I was at Summer Camp with the Boy Scouts in the mountains of Virginia. It was late July. It dropped 2 nights to the low 50's at night. No UQ and a minimalist TQ was NOT enough! I found the fleece...
WELCOME from Martinsville, VA!
I've used a small, minimalist UQ from fleece! Works pretty well, but does not stop a breeze!
I hang a couple to a few nights a month in a ENO Single Nest. 5'7", 230#. Works great all 4 seasons! I look forward to seeing how you decide to hang indoors!
Ahhhhhh..... Thank you!!! So, if I wanted a simple set up like that for my son, what straps would you use?
This past weekend, my son used his hammock for the first time. The straps were ENO Slap Straps. He said the hammock slid down the tree and he had to get out and adjust a couple of times each night....
I guess it's time to revive this old thread...
Troop 326, Martinsville, Virginia. As Jimbo said earlier (years ago) more than half our adults sleep in the trees and often up to half the Scouts....
I have been using Slumberjacks since I was a kid. My Scoutmaster worked for Dupont who made their materials, so.... I use down when hanging, but I STILL have my Slumberjack from the early 80's! We...
Man, and I thought it was cold in Virginia! LOL Great pics!!!! Thanks!
Cool fly, thanks for the pics!!!
Welcome from Virginia!!!
That looks mighty warm!
Cool post! (Pun intended)! I hang in the cold, but that is COLD!
Is there much concern with strength? So the stick is called a toggle?
Great report! It was cool seeing the pics! Thanks!!!
I can attest to that... last weekend, I got super hot, reached up and lowered my UQ, then fell back asleep. I awoke soon as my body started loosing warmth! I sure learned a lesson there... micro...
What is the best material to use for Marlin Spikes? I have heard all kinds of things. Do you carry an extra one in the woods or on the trail just in case you loose one???
Great idea!!!
Fantastic work!
Yes, Very good information!!!! Thanks!
I think one of the benefits of a TQ is the ease of getting out and back in the hammock... I love being able to get up and run to the proverbial tree!
Man, that was quick! :) Great UQ!
How do I take advantage of this price on my order???
Thanks!!!
So, what's the best way to keep mosquitos away when sleeping in an open hammock???
Thanks a bunch! Payment sent! Thanks for the quick reply!!!
So.... what is the average length of whoopie's?
I'll take it! Will you please PM me your payment info?
Thanks
