Can you die/ tie dye hyperD 1.6?
Does anyone have experience dyeing this type of fabric? Any tips would be great (type of die, process etc)
I only have one cot I made for a vintage camper...
Another ziptie guy. I always use them and just carefully cut them flush. Quick, easy, cheap.
Oops I noticed I referenced a link that I never added for making the bladder.
http://www.homemadetoast.com/2013/07/how-to-make-leak-proof-water-blob.html
These are the instructions I used. ...
So I did make a prototype with a air bladder on the inside. I made the bladder using plastic sheeting from home depot, an iron and some parchment paper. I stole the idea from the link below. She...
I have made my plastic liner shell and tested that, now I'm just waiting on my hypderD fabric to show up and make the outer shell. This prototype is mostly just for home and soft sandy beaches. I...
I have some supplies on the way for this same project, but I was going a different route. I believe the lamzac contains a plastic bladder on the inside and the ripstop exterior is not the primary...
I'll take it.
I use floral wire for splicing all my amsteel and zing it. I just fold over a long piece of wire to use. I tried using a loop turner, but it's too big for zing it and just wasn't as quick for me...
I would like to purchase some white HypderD 1.0 and dye it to a vibrant pink for my two daughters.
What is HyperD fabric wise and what is the best way to dye this?
Thanks for any tips!

when you add to the cart and then go to pay it says "out of stock"
Update - so yeah it looks like it will let you order one now.
Regardless, I'm still interested in how you make sewn through...
Does anyone know of a tutorial or page that describes how best to handle sewn through down projects.
I wanted to buy a blackrock gear HadronS hat before they discontinued them, but I missed the...
So if you have a tarp with Version 1.0 of silpoly .. what are the options? Has anyone found a solution to seam sealing or should i just overlap with grosgrain and seal that with silicone/mineral...
I am looking for a cuben fiber hammock gear tarp (with doors)
The ridgeline can be 10,11 or 12.. I really don't mind.
Anyone out there buy one of these and just not using it?
TIA

oldraven - There is good reason there are no closeups! For MYOG efforts function beats form in my book every time. I just started sewing again (used to hem my pants in high school.. i'm uber short)...
I'm not sure what type of insulation, except to say it's not down for sure. I modified some of those Eddie Bauer travel throws for a lightweight UQ and this is the leftover from cutting it to size.
So I tried the nalgene bottle with hot water and a sock on a recent cold hang. Wow I was amazed and inspired to make this.
Don't critique the stitching. I slung it together with some scraps...
Anyone hear of or use massdrop.com? I stumbled on it from another forum and was surprised to see alot of cottage industry hammock gear over there. Dutch has apparently just finished a "drop" and I...
Thanks for the replies. This is the exact info I was after. The sheet actually calls out baffle numbers for HammockGear models of TQs. I'm hoping a top quilt is a bit more straight forward than an...
I am about to embark on my first quilt project and wanted to get some additional guidance.
I am aware of the Differential cut UQ calculator, but I have been unable to find something similar for...
There is a 2XLT in the for sale section now.
#6901 was ordered 1/22/2015.
Hoping for a speedy delivery so I can test before winter leaves the deep south.
I searched all the way back to Jan1.. I didn't see one.
Still looking.
I'm a short guy so a short quilt would be best, but I'm open to all.
Thanks! That's just what i'm after. I joined and hopefully I'll get accepted soon enough to snag it.

I'd love to find someone not using a HammockGear Burrow 20F but I'm open to others.
Let me know what you have and are willing to part with.

Ahh. Well then I am mistaken. I love that titanium btw.. it's what I chose for my quilt.
When do you expect any gray back in? titanium or otherwise.
I do love the HyperD 1.0 and i've been using it alot for hammocks for my family and friends and anyone else who will stomach my hammock obsession! I bought an UQ from hammock gear which is argon67...
Where can I buy Argon67 in a wider range of colors than Dutch offers? I see hammockgear.com has a wide array of colors for their quilts ( I know some are argon90)
Is dutch THE source for this.....
Kyle @ RipStopByTheRoll.com could probably help you out. Great product and great service.
Mouseskowitz - Thanks! I tried hard to make those look nice. I just simply traced an arc using a compass and then carefully turned the fabric as I slowly stitched. Most of them came out nice, one...
Hammock camping is a great place to dabble. I'm a dabbler too and there is alot of hours to pour into this hobby.
Enjoy the journey and you've got some time to get things dialed in before your...
That's funny.. i can't believe he just kept trying. my dog gives new things a chance once or twice and then quits if the don't work out.
Jo-ann Fabrics carries quite a few colors of the gutterman threads.
I used some 1.6 ripstop that I had laying around. It's silnylon. Again this is probably a poor choice, but seems functional.
Google and there are several books on the JMT (history of, planning etc)
I am planning to do the JMT this year and hope to hang every night ( understanding that i will have to hike high, sleep low)
I absolutely LOVE the 1.0 HyperD. I have argon, HyperD 1.6, HyperD 1.0, 1.1 conventional and my favorite is the HyperD 1.0
Looking good.. I tried all my local stores here a few times but apparently down is so popular in florida.
Could you use a solvent that is stronger than mineral spirits? xylene? This might re-emulsify the sil within the poly and help to get a better bond? I am just talking out loud with no knowledge of...
Ridgeline for a hammock here too. I hung a few times w/o understanding the importance of it (or how to hang my hammock at all) and wow what a difference it makes. Not sure I'll ever hang w/o one...
I didn't think to measure it, though the plans I went by were for a 11.25' ridge length. Overall I am happy with the way it ended up. I would definitely do better on the next one.
My weight is...
Nice tarp! I especially like all the pictures of the process. It's nice to see the little steps.
I just finished my first tarp so I know how much effort a project like this is.
Green tea
12' ridge, with doors. I don't have cord on the doors to pull them closed in this pic.
1 pound 6 oz (including 4 walmart stakes for sand)
Still needs some pullouts and to be...
I finally finished my tarp. Here are the finished pictures.
It weighs in (in the stuff sack) at 1 pound 6 oz. Not the lightest shelter but it's a start.
I still need to add the side...
squidbilly - We have a similar taste in color choices I see. Yeah I'm definitely going to just do what I can, when I can and leave the table when frustrated. Sew once, use many!
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this up or not, but let's give it a go.
My name is chris and I live in Fort Walton Beach (okaloosa county)

I'm in Fort Walton Beach/Destin area. We need to get a thread going for a far west panhandle hang.
I'll PM you about local hangs.
FLScouthanger - I left the silicone for 48 hours before messing with. I have seen no transfer to the machine but thanks for pointing that out. Also I'm in FWB!! HartFL is too. When is the local...
